These are considered valuable documents for the art of hát bội. The documents, given on the occasion of the death anniversary of the theater's founder, have a special meaning in terms of the transmission of art from the predecessors to the younger generation.

Hope the precious hát bội materials reach the right people in need.

In the list of documents given, there are many opera scripts, research books, and documents related to opera that Mr. Dinh Bang Phi has spent his whole life meticulously collecting, summarizing, and preserving.

During the ceremony, Mr. Dinh Thanh Tam, the eldest son of artist Dinh Bang Phi, shared that about 7 years ago, when Mr. Dinh Bang Phi was still lucid, he gave Mr. Tam all the sources of documents.

When receiving it, Mr. Tam was surprised at the amount of documents that his father had painstakingly researched, compiled, and collected over a long period of time.

When his father gave it to him, he knew it was a legacy of great spiritual value.

"My father told me to find a way to share this resource with those who need it. At that time, I was very confused. At home, I had a library to store my father's documents, but it was not convenient to share them with everyone.

Luckily, when the leaders of the HCM City Opera House visited my father, we thought of giving this document to the theater.

This is a specialized theater, and has its own space for storage. Hopefully, these documents can reach many people," said Mr. Dinh Thanh Tam.

He added that the materials donated to the theater were in the right place because they could be given to opera artists in need of materials, theater students, and researchers, which was exactly what the family wished for.

Cherishing the heritage of hát bội

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Vinh, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Hat Boi Art Theater, emphasized that the theater is very happy to receive the trust of artist Dinh Bang Phi's family and to entrust them with valuable documents about Hat Boi.

The theater will preserve and promote this source of materials, and allow young actors in the theater to access the materials and continue to learn and research what Mr. Dinh Bang Phi has carefully passed down.

He also regretted that due to health reasons, artist Dinh Bang Phi could not be present. If he had been present, he would have been very happy that his passions would be cherished and preserved by the next generation.

Mr. Dinh Thanh Tam expressed his hope that the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City could support the theater in digitizing its source materials for longer preservation and convenience in use.

Because in the documents given there are some manuscripts typed decades ago, now blurred and possibly damaged.

After the donation receiving ceremony, the HCM City Opera House held a memorial service for the theater's founder with full rituals to pay tribute to the ancestors, remember the ancestors, show gratitude to the audience and hope that the art of opera will still be loved by today's youth, keeping the passion alive.
