VN-Index lost more than 35 points

The VN-Index plunged 35.66 points to 1,731.19 points; the VN30-Index fell 45.13 points to 1,977.14 points.

Green only appeared in the first few minutes of the session before the selling pressure overwhelmed the indices, causing them to fall sharply towards the end of the session. The entire HOSE recorded 236 stocks decreasing in price, only 96 stocks increasing; in the VN30 basket, only 3 stocks remained green.

The " Vingroup " stocks had the strongest impact on the general decline when VIC, VHM, VPL and VRE. Along with that, the banking group was also the main factor pulling the market down. Of the 10 stocks that reduced the index the most, there were 5 banking stocks including VPB, CTG, VCB, LPB and BID.

Profit-taking pressure caused most sectors to decline; in which real estate and consumer services were the two sectors with the sharpest declines. In contrast to the market, only two sectors, hardware - equipment and telecommunications services, remained green.

Liquidity remained high with over VND42,000 billion traded. After the previous net buying session, foreign investors returned to strong net selling with a purchase value of nearly VND3,767 billion but sold approximately VND5,731 billion, equivalent to a net selling of VND2,107 billion.

On HOSE, foreign investors net sold approximately VND1,964 billion, focusing on VSH shares with a sudden value of more than VND1,000 billion (mainly through agreements), along with VRE, SSI, VCI and VND codes. On HNX, foreign investors net sold nearly VND145 billion; on the contrary, on UPCOM, they net bought slightly about VND1 billion.

Total transaction value on HNX reached more than 2,600 billion VND. At the end of the session, HNX-Index decreased 0.97 points to 276.11 points; HNX30-Index decreased 4.16 points to 608.14 points.

The session on October 17 was recorded as the sharpest decline since the market was upgraded, showing that profit-taking pressure and cautious sentiment continue to dominate investors in the current period.
