In Thu Duc City, heavy rain and strong thunderstorms caused some trees to fall and damaged the roofs of some shops on Pham Van Dong Street.

Meanwhile, some areas in districts 5, 6, 7, 8 have cloudy skies, light winds, but no rain.

The Southern Hydrometeorological Station said that monitoring satellite cloud images, weather radar images and lightning location images showed that thunderstorms were developing and causing rain and lightning in the districts including Thu Duc City, Can Gio, Binh Chanh, District 8, Binh Tan District, District 11, District 5, District 10, Binh Thanh District, District 1, Phu Nhuan District, Go Vap District, Hoc Mon District, District 12, and Cu Chi District.

It is forecasted that from noon to the afternoon of May 5, thunderstorms will continue to cause showers, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in the above areas, then spreading to other neighboring areas. Rainfall is generally from 10 - 20 mm, in some places over 25 mm. During thunderstorms, beware of tornadoes, hail and strong gusts of wind of about level 5 - 7 (8 - 17 m/s).

Beware of tornadoes and gusts of wind during thunderstorms.
