Vinh Hoa commune builds women's movement

Vinh Hoa commune was merged from 4 communes: Hoa Chanh, Thanh Yen, Thanh Yen A and Vinh Hoa. The whole commune has 10,384 women aged 18 and over, members account for 69.6% of women currently present in the locality, core members account for 3.4%; women who are cadres, civil servants, and public employees account for 3.7%, religious women 24.9%. Women participate in most areas of social life, playing an important role in socio -economic development.

Over the years, the Women's Unions of the pre-merger communes have set out appropriate tasks and solutions to motivate members and women to participate in studying, working, producing, and building prosperous and happy families. The Union has actively reviewed the existing model of gathering members and women, classifying members by age, occupation, and interests; paying special attention to specific groups of members and women (religious women, the elderly, young people, etc.) to establish appropriate models. In addition, the branches have also actively grasped the thoughts and aspirations, gathered proposals and recommendations of members and women; focused on social security activities, focusing on members, poor women, those in difficult circumstances, and children in special circumstances.

According to the President of the Women's Union of Vinh Hoa Commune, Chau Thao Nguyen, the union pays attention to building a team of grassroots cadres, especially the women's union heads. Every year, the union creates conditions for cadres to participate in training to improve their professional capacity; and guides the union heads to effectively deploy union activities to members and women. "After the merger, the area is large and the members are numerous, so the union faces many difficulties. In that situation, the union assigns members of the Standing Committee to directly attend activities at each union branch, promptly report and resolve problems. Thanks to that, the quality of the union's activities has been increasingly improved," Ms. Chau Thao Nguyen shared.

The Women's Union of Vinh Hoa commune focuses on innovating its operating methods, associated with solving issues related to the legal and legitimate rights and interests of its members, in which priority is given to the economic life of its members, helping them to escape poverty and have a stable source of income. Up to now, the total capital the union manages is more than 105 billion VND, helping 2,133 households borrow; propagandizing and supporting 658 female workers to participate in agricultural and non-agricultural vocational classes; introducing and creating jobs for 1,381 female workers... Thanks to that, it has helped 298 households headed by women escape poverty.

By understanding the needs, wishes and desires of women, the Women's Union of Can Ngon Hamlet established many models to attract women to participate such as: Pig raising group, color growing group, broom tying group, flower arranging group... "All models established by the association are closely linked to the practical interests of members and women, so they are agreed and supported by the majority of women, contributing to the development of the women's movement", Ms. Vo Thi Dat - Head of the Women's Union of Can Ngon Hamlet informed.

Promoting the achieved results, the Women's Union of Vinh Hoa commune continues to innovate the content and methods of operation, focusing on the grassroots, providing practical care for members, contributing to improving women's lives, building an increasingly strong union organization, affirming the role and position of women in the development of the locality.
