Propaganda work to properly implement rules and regulations at Doc Cuoc Temple is focused on.
One of the solutions that has been synchronously deployed at relic sites in the province is to promote propaganda work. At relic sites that attract a large number of people and tourists to worship every year such as Song Son Temple (Quang Trung Ward), Phu Na (Xuan Du Commune), Doc Cuoc Temple (Sam Son Ward), Nua - Am Tien Temple (Tan Ninh Commune), Lam Kinh (Lam Son Commune), Ba Trieu Temple (Trieu Loc Commune)..., the rules and regulations of the destination are placed in easy-to-observe locations. Along with that, many places have actively integrated messages of environmental protection, saving offerings, not burning votive paper... into the news broadcast on the loudspeaker system in a gentle and convincing way.
Located right in the heart of Sam Son coastal tourist urban area, Doc Cuoc Temple not only attracts people and tourists from all over the country during the New Year festival, but it is also bustling throughout the summer, especially on weekends. Without anyone telling anyone, most visitors who come here strictly follow the rules of the destination. Thanks to that, the sacred space of the relic is always kept clean. Notably, the offering of incense and burning of votive papers are done in the right place, there are no cases of offering incense or burning candles inside the temple. The keeper of Doc Cuoc Van Dinh Ga temple said: “During the current summer tourist season, thousands of tourists come to burn incense and visit the landscape every day on weekends. To ensure the conditions for welcoming and serving the people and tourists, the relic site is always kept green, clean and beautiful; the rules and regulations are placed in places that are easy for people to see. When the relic management board does its job well, every local and tourist who comes here will also voluntarily comply with the regulations. However, as the relic site is located right in a coastal tourist area, there are still some tourists who do not really pay attention to their clothes or litter indiscriminately. We are always on duty to promptly remind them.”
Coming to Lam Kinh National Special Historical Relic Site, civilized lifestyle is clearly demonstrated through specific actions and deeds. When visiting, visitors are guided on the rules of civilized tourism behavior and behavior towards heritage. In areas such as the Main Hall, Thai Temple, and the tomb area of King Le Thai To, the relic management board arranges staff on duty to assist visitors during the incense offering and sightseeing process. Mr. Ho Ha Hai, Head of the Lam Kinh National Special Historical Relic Management Board, said: “Basically, visitors coming here all follow the rules and regulations and behave civilly. Inside the relic area, fortune-telling, superstition, and soliciting visitors to draw lots are strictly prohibited... In particular, when visiting the Main Hall area, visitors must always maintain order, not make noise, wear appropriate clothing, follow the prescribed path, and not touch artifacts in the prohibited area. In the coming time, the management board will coordinate with schools in the province to bring extracurricular activities back to the source, visit relics associated with life skills education , and awareness of preserving cultural heritage. Thereby, it is aimed at creating a connection between the young generation and local heritage, contributing to spreading a civilized lifestyle and preserving the cultural and religious space of the nation.”
However, in addition to positive changes, the implementation of civilized lifestyle at some cultural relics in the province is sometimes limited. In particular, the situation of burning votive paper in the wrong place still occurs; a small number of people and tourists intentionally touch artifacts; litter after performing the ceremony; wear inappropriate costumes... At some festivals, jostling, fortune telling, and street vending still take place openly. These are manifestations that need to be more strongly corrected with clear sanctions and the decisive participation of all levels, sectors, and functional forces.
Recently, Thanh Hoa province has also issued many directive documents, and assigned specific responsibilities to departments, branches and localities in managing, preserving and promoting heritage values. In particular, organizing festivals in accordance with legal regulations, not allowing the exploitation of beliefs for profit, and ensuring the solemnity of cultural spaces are given special attention.
In reality, building a civilized lifestyle at cultural and religious relics is not a far-fetched or difficult thing to do, if every small action, every reminder, every observation begins with respect, awareness and responsibility of each person. And the effort to build a civilized lifestyle at Thanh Hoa cultural relics is an affirmation of a sustainable development future - where each heritage is not only the past, but also the journey to tomorrow.
