Recently, some singers have performed bolero music in sensitive costumes (old regime soldiers' uniforms), filmed and posted them on social media platforms, causing much controversy.

Mr. Trang Thanh Phuong - Deputy Head of the Arts Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports - said that through the press, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports has grasped the matter.

The use of inappropriate or improper costumes by artists during performances can not only cause offense but also violate regulations on performing arts.

Based on press reports, the department has reviewed and determined that these products are still posted on some fanpages, Facebook accounts, TikTok...

Pursuant to the provisions of Clause 4, Article 8 of Decree No. 144/2020/ND-CP dated December 14, 2020 regulating the form of organizing performing arts, "Organizing performing arts not directly before the public is posted on the radio and television system and the network environment for which the poster and broadcaster is responsible".

Therefore, the posting of those products on some fanpages, TikTok channels... will be subject to regulations in the field of information and communication and other relevant regulations.

"After receiving the information, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City proactively discussed with relevant agencies to determine whether the use of costumes was appropriate or not, whether the songs performed were approved by competent authorities or not, whether there were violations of prohibitions in performing arts activities and other relevant regulations or not.

In the coming time, the department will take further steps according to its authority" - Mr. Trang Thanh Phuong added.

Previously, singer Dam Vinh Hung was reminded by the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City and asked to further improve his sense of responsibility and political awareness; pay attention to the issue of clothing and presentation, to avoid causing offense and having a negative impact on public opinion and society in the future.

During the live show The Day You Light the Stars which took place on the evening of May 4 in Ho Chi Minh City, Dam Vinh Hung wore many strange badges while performing.

Some say the badges "imitate the Special Forces Medal" - a type of medal of the old regime before 1975.

The online uproar forced singer Dam Vinh Hung to respond on his personal page and then apologize to the audience.
