Xuan Son and Hoang Hen may be called up to the Vietnam national team in November.

Nguyen Xuan Son has almost fully recovered from his injury, while Hendrio da Silva has become a Vietnamese citizen with the name Do Hoang Hen. So when can these two players play for the Vietnamese national team?

October recorded 2 very happy news for Vietnamese football fans.

Naturalized striker Nguyen Xuan Son has almost completely recovered from his injury when playing a friendly match for Nam Dinh Club. He played the last few minutes of the second half of the match against PVF-CAND during the FIFA Days break on October 11.

This is the stage where Xuan Son is getting back into the rhythm with high intensity training and trial matches to regain the best feeling of the ball. He is expected to be registered by the coaching staff of Nam Dinh Club to compete in the second leg of V-League 2025 - 2026.

Since Xuan Son is now able to play, coach Kim Sang Sik will most likely call him back to the Vietnam national team during the November training session, but will not let Son play immediately, but only to test his fitness, monitor his condition and create conditions for him to gradually reintegrate into the team atmosphere.

Xuan Son still needs a few more months to stabilize and he is also advised not to rush back. In addition, the Vietnam team will only meet a weak opponent, Laos, in November, without needing a "heavy gun" like Xuan Son, he can still complete the task well.

Also related to naturalized players, Hendrio da Silva has officially become a Vietnamese citizen with the name Do Hoang Hen, and is used by Hanoi FC as a domestic player in V-League 2025-2026. However, Hoang Hen is not yet eligible to play for the national team according to FIFA regulations.  

Therefore, coach Kim Sang Sik can call up Hoang Hen to the Vietnam national team in November for testing if he is in good form at the club. It will be until 2026 that Hoang Hen can play for the national team in official matches.

The best scenario is that by March 2026, when Xuan Son is in the best physical condition and Hoang Hen meets the legal requirements, the Vietnamese team will have two very high-quality naturalized players in attack for the second leg against Malaysia in Group F of the third qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.

Xuan Son and Hoang Hen are very compatible as they have played together for a long time in the V-League. This promises to significantly increase the strength of the Vietnamese team in the crucial match against Malaysia.
