On the evening of October 13, the National Costume competition within the framework of the Miss Grand International 2025 contest took place in Bangkok, Thailand, bringing the audience a feast filled with cultural colors, where contestants together honored national identity and creative spirit.

Vietnam's representative - Miss Nguyen Thi Yen Nhi proudly promotes Vietnamese folk water puppetry to international friends through the "Thang Long Hoi" costume.

The design is inspired by the art of water puppetry, a cultural pride of the Vietnamese people. The costume recreates the image of the majestic communal houses by the lake, which used to be the stage for many folk tales, and reflects the creative soul and spirit of Vietnam.

“Thang Long Hoi” carries within it the aspiration to preserve identity, so that water puppetry - a priceless spiritual heritage - continues to shine in the era of integration, affirming Vietnam's position on the world cultural map.

On stage, “Thang Long Hoi” with the frame surrounding the skirt is gilded and carved with sophisticated patterns, the inner skirt reflects bright light when moving, combined with props recreating the image of a dragon in traditional water puppetry. Overall, it creates a vivid visual effect.

The national costume “Thang Long Hoi” weighs about 30kg, with its large size and cumbersome structure, requiring solid performance skills and the ability to control the stage. In front of an international audience, Miss Yen Nhi walked confidently, demonstrating careful preparation and professionalism.

It can be said that this costume is a challenge, not only in the performance on stage but also in the preparation process, when having to assemble many details with complex structures. When wearing it, I can hardly move quickly. Every movement must be carefully calculated to both maintain the shape and express the spirit the designer wants to convey. I try to bring the most complete performance with all the national pride , ” Yen Nhi shared after the competition.

With “Thang Long Hoi,” Yen Nhi is expected to once again bring home the Best National Costume award like the two previous Vietnamese representatives, Doan Thien An (2022) and Le Hoang Phuong (2023). This award is not only a source of personal pride but also an opportunity to spread the cultural values and national identity of Vietnam, while honoring the creativity of Vietnamese designers.

According to the announced schedule, after the National Costume competition, Miss Yen Nhi will participate in the semi-finals on October 15, and the finals on October 18 within the framework of Miss Grand International 2025.

Despite encountering many "slip of the tongue" incidents when participating in the international beauty contest and almost not achieving results in the sub-contests, up to now, Miss Yen Nhi has been in the Top 20 of the "Country's Power of the Year" category and advanced to the next round of voting, with the opportunity to be in the final Top 20 of Miss Grand International 2025./.
