13 communes and wards control African swine fever

Up to now, 13 communes and wards in the province have gone 21 days without new outbreaks of African swine fever.

Since the outbreak, the disease has occurred in 3,435 households in 526 villages of 60 communes and wards; the total number of sick, dead and culled pigs is 23,381, with a destroyed volume of nearly 1,292 tons.

The province has directed synchronous measures to prevent and control the epidemic, such as: 99/99 communes and wards established steering committees and issued plans to prevent and control the epidemic; the whole province was provided with more than 5,700 liters of disinfectant for spraying and disinfecting.

Up to now, people in 55 communes and wards have proactively vaccinated their livestock with more than 12,840 doses of vaccine.

The functional sector assessed that the direction of epidemic prevention and control has had positive changes, but communes and wards that have not passed 21 days need to continue to urgently establish councils and destruction teams and strictly implement sanitation and disinfection measures, thoroughly handle outbreaks, and prevent the spread of the disease.

Pig farmers are advised not to restock in epidemic areas, maintain barn hygiene, apply biosecurity and vaccinate pigs adequately to protect their herds.
