The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training said it will open the registration portal for the 10th grade entrance exam in 2024 from 3:00 p.m. on May 3. 9th grade students will register at: https://Ts10.hcm.edu.vn.

Also according to the department, from this year, candidates for the 10th grade entrance exam will register entirely online, not on paper. Secondary schools will provide login accounts and instructions on how to register for their students.

Choose a foreign language for the 10th grade entrance exam

According to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, each candidate is allowed to register 3 wishes for regular grade 10. The wishes are arranged in order of priority from top to bottom, the candidate must study for which wish is accepted.

Candidates take 3 exams including literature, math and foreign language (foreign language 1 is being studied at secondary school). For the foreign language exam, candidates have the right to choose to take one of the following foreign languages: English, French, Japanese, Chinese.

As for candidates who are studying the Japanese language program (first foreign language) at the secondary school level, if they wish to continue studying Japanese in grade 10, they should prioritize registering at schools with Japanese as the first foreign language, including Trung Vuong High School, Le Quy Don High School, and Marie Curie High School.

According to the department, in addition to enrolling regular 10th graders, the Department of Education and Training also organizes enrollment for specialized sports talent at two schools: Nguyen Thi Dinh High School for Sports Talents and Binh Chanh High School for Sports Talents.

3 wishes to enter specialized grade 10

According to the instructions on how to register for the 10th grade specialized entrance exam for the 2024-2025 school year of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, candidates will be able to register for 3 specialized wishes of 6 high schools. Specifically as follows:

Each candidate, in addition to registering 3 wishes for specialized schools and classes, can also register 3 more wishes for regular 10th grade high school. Candidates can register 3 specialized wishes for 6 high schools: Le Hong Phong, Tran Dai Nghia, Gia Dinh, Nguyen Thuong Hien, Nguyen Huu Huan, Mac Dinh Chi.

Candidates who have registered for the 10th grade specialized entrance exam will not be allowed to register for the integrated English class.

This year, Ho Chi Minh City has two types of English specialized classes. Candidates will choose one of two:

Traditional English class: Candidates take an English exam similar to previous years.

English specialized class according to project 5695 (also known as English - math - science specialized class): Candidates take 1 English specialized exam according to project 5695 including English, math, and natural science in English.

This specialized class is only held at two specialized high schools: Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted and Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted.

8 wishes for students taking the integrated 10th grade entrance exam

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training said that this year, candidates who register for the integrated English 10th grade entrance exam will be able to register at the same time for the new English specialized 10th grade (also known as the English specialized class according to project 5695 or the English - math - science specialized class).

The condition for simultaneous registration is that candidates must take 1 English - math - science exam in English (in addition to 3 exams of literature, math, foreign language).

In which, candidates have 2 wishes to enter grade 10 specializing in English according to project 5695, 3 wishes to enter grade 10 integrated English, 3 wishes to enter grade 10 regular.

In the 2024-2025 school year, Ho Chi Minh City has 2 schools opening specialized English classes under project 5695 (in addition to the traditional specialized English classes as before), which are Le Hong Phong Specialized School and Tran Dai Nghia Specialized School.
