On the evening of September 30, the concert “Italia Mistero: The Mystery of Italy” took place at the Ho Guom Theater (Hanoi). This was the first time the public in the capital had the opportunity to meet and enjoy classical music , performed by the artists of the Teatro Massimo Orchestra, under the direction of conductor Alberto Maniaci, with the participation of two opera singers Federica Guida and Matteo Falcier.

In the concert “Italia Mistero: The Mystery of Italy”, Italian artists bring to the audience moments of artistic climax, with immortal melodies of Rossini, Verdi, Donizetti and Bellini, taking the audience on a romantic, tragic and dramatic journey, where 19th-century Italian music is revived by the youth and passion of Italy's leading artists.

Conductor Alberto Maniaci shared that he was honored to receive an invitation to perform in a concert at the Ho Guom Theater ( Hanoi ), a very beautiful theater with great acoustics. This was the first time he and artists from an Italian theater came to Vietnam, through the cooperation between the Massimo Theater in Palermo and the Ho Guom Theater.

According to conductor Alberto Maniaci, the two concerts “Italia Mistero: The Mystery of Italy” taking place on the evening of September 30 and October 1 are opera programs with Italian characteristics, with the participation of two famous singers Matteo Falciera and Federica Guida, the best excerpts of some classic operas, such as works by Lucia di Lammemur, by Rossini, some symphonies by Rossini, Barbiere di Siviglia, l'Inganno Felice and Scala di Seta, along with some wonderful duets from Donizetti's Elysir d'Amore...

“Through this concert, Vietnamese audiences will be able to enjoy classic Italian musical works and experience more deeply the culture of Italian opera and symphony,” said conductor Alberto Maniaci.

Artist Matteo Falciera, a tenor from Italy, also expressed his joy at being invited to this concert. With his tenor voice, artist Matteo Falciera brought to the audience excerpts from La Traviata and Macbeth, Verdi's repertoire, excerpts from Bellini and Donizetti... In addition, he and artist Federica Guida also performed duets of some excerpts from La Traviata, L'Elisir d'Amore and Lucia di Lammemur... and even a piece written in the Sicilian dialect.

Artist Matteo Falciera expressed that opera is a part of Italian culture. As an Italian artist, he is very happy to bring his country's culture to Vietnamese audiences in particular and the world in general; at the same time, he hopes that through this concert, the message of friendship, integration and cultural connection between countries and peoples will be conveyed to everyone...

The Orchestra of the Teatro Massimo is an artistic symbol of the land of Palermo, one of the most prestigious opera orchestras in Italy, famous for both opera and symphony concerts, and has performed on many major stages around the world.

Over the decades, the orchestra has been led by musical greats such as Franco Capuana, Gianandrea Gavazzeni, Tullio Serafin, Vittorio Gui, Antonino Votto, Ottavio Ziino, Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Muti, Carlo Maria Giulini, as well as international legends such as Paul Hindemith, Pierre Monteux, Otto Klemperer, Lovro von Matacic, Zubin Mehta and Myung-Whun Chung.

In recent years, the orchestra has performed under Plácido Domingo in Florence, Zubin Mehta in Taormina and Gabriele Ferro at the Ravello Festival. The orchestra also tours internationally with the Teatro Massimo Foundation, with acclaimed performances in Oman (2016 and 2019) and Japan (2017 and 2023), as well as recordings with Jonas Kaufmann and Marina Rebeka.

Conductor Alberto Maniaci graduated with distinction in Piano, Composition and Conducting from the A. Scarlatti Conservatory; then continued his studies at the A. Casella Conservatory in L'Aquila. He was the only Italian student selected by the legendary Riccardo Muti to join his Academy of Music in 2016.

From there, his career path expanded across Europe, with collaborations with the Verdi Milano Orchestra, I Pomeriggi Musicali, Teatro Massimo, Sicilian Symphony or Filarmonia Veneta. Artist Federica Guida, a young, powerful Italian singer, has conquered audiences at La Scala and Wiener Staatsoper.

A young but experienced soprano, Federica Guida graduated with honors from the Alessandro Scarlatti Conservatory (Palermo) and quickly made her name known through many prestigious awards such as Aslico, Clip of Portofino... Federica Guida is one of the youngest artists to take on the role of Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte.

With a bright, flexible and powerful voice, artist Federica Guida has shone in roles such as Gilda (Rigoletto) under the baton of Plácido Domingo, Oscar (Un ballo in maschera) at La Scala or Leïla (Les pêcheurs de perles) at Teatro Colón.

Artist Matteo Falcier is considered one of the most promising Italian tenors. Graduated from the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory (Milan) and trained at La Scala Academy, Matteo Falcier quickly rose to leading roles such as Alfredo (La Traviata), Rodolfo (La Bohème) or Manrico (Il Trovatore).

With a career associated with big names such as Riccardo Muti, James Conlon or Daniele Rustioni, Matteo Falcier has appeared on prestigious stages from La Scala, Roma, Napoli, Bologna to Wiener Staatsoper, Leipzig Opera or Opéra Royal de Wallonie.

With a refined, dramatic and lyrical performance style, associated with the glorious history of world opera and symphony art, the concert “Italia Mistero: The Mystery of Italy” brings the capital’s audience the opportunity to fully enjoy the beauty of Italian music; contributing to opening up opportunities for cooperation, artist exchange and promoting cultural diplomacy between Vietnam and Italy./.
