Musician Thế Hiển was born in 1955, originally from Nam Định , and grew up in Ho Chi Minh City. He showed his musical talent from a young age, participating in local art movements and then studying vocal music at the intermediate level. In 1980, he became a singer of the Bong Sen Song and Dance Troupe, performing on many tours for audiences across the country.
During more than 40 years of being involved in music, The Hien left behind nearly 100 works, many of which have become memories of many generations, such as Toc em doi ga (Pocket's Hair), Nhanh lan rung (Rung orchid branch), Hat ve anh (Sing about me), Thanh nien tuyen nguyen march (Volunteer march), Linh dao truong (Spring Island Soldiers)...
He is especially known for his compositions about Uncle Ho's soldiers, the sea and islands, and Truong Sa. That is why the public affectionately calls him "the soldier's musician". During his lifetime, he was also one of the artists who regularly brought songs to serve soldiers, youth volunteers, and armed forces in many regions.
More than 2 years ago, he released the collection Singing about you - Forest orchid branches including 40 songs, including 32 articles about the armed forces and 8 songs about love for the homeland and country.
Not only attached to revolutionary music, The Hien also left behind many love songs that accompanied the youth of the 1990s-2000s such as Couple Story, Love Memories, Waiting in the Rain, Singing on the Green Farm, Question Mark...
In 2012, he was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist by the State, and in 2023 continued to be honored as People's Artist.
