Hand over clean land for railway underpass in Quang Tri before September 15

According to Giao Thong Newspaper's reporter on September 12, the Km 607+920 railway underpass in Gio Linh district, Quang Tri province has been completed by the contractor, and the roof on both sides of the bridge abutments is being urgently completed.

However, the road section from National Highway 1 to the railway underpass at Km 607+920 is still in disarray. Here, in addition to an electric pole that has not been relocated, a number of constructions within the clearance area have not been completely dismantled.

"Currently, the underpass section has been completed. We are mobilizing more vehicles to focus on completing the road section of this railway underpass project as soon as we have a clean site," said a representative of the construction contractor.

The project of the railway underpass corridor at Km 607+920 in Gio Linh district is part of the project to reinforce weak tunnels, open new stations and renovate the upper-floor architecture of the Vinh - Nha Trang section of the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City railway line.

When completed, this project will eliminate the potential risk of traffic accidents at the intersection between the road and the railway, which used to be a "black spot" for accidents; at the same time, it will contribute to improving the transport infrastructure, improving the capacity of transporting goods, and developing the local economy and society.

However, the site clearance work for the construction of this project has been very slow in the past, affecting the construction progress of the invested construction projects as well as the construction progress of the package and the entire project.

Gio Linh District People's Committee has committed to completing site clearance and handing over the entire clean site to the investor and construction unit before February 22.

However, Gio Linh district only handed over the construction site (phase 1) on March 23. Recently, the handover of the remaining site in August 2023 has also continued to be "missed".

According to Project Management Board 85 (project investor), the unit has just sent a document requesting the People's Committee of Gio Linh district to urgently complete site clearance work to hand over the entire clean site to the construction contractor before September 15.

The railway underpass Km 607+920 has been completed, but the road section leading to the underpass is still stuck with site clearance.

In case the site clearance is still not completed before September 15, the Gio Linh District People's Committee is requested to respond in writing so that Project Management Board 85 can report to the competent authority to consider and decide on continuing to invest in the remaining road section of the project package.

According to Gio Linh District People's Committee, the District People's Committee has assigned the Project Management Board, Land Fund Development and Industrial Cluster Development Board to preside over and coordinate with Gio Linh Electricity Branch and Gio Linh Town People's Committee to relocate an electric pole within the site clearance area for construction.

At the same time, mobilize affected households to urgently dismantle compensated and supported construction works to hand over clean sites to investors and contractors before September 15.
