TPO - With more than a month to go until Mid-Autumn Festival, it is not difficult to see stalls selling moon cakes early along the streets of Hanoi . However, these shops are all deserted, waiting for customers to buy.

According to the reporter's records, since the beginning of the 7th lunar month, many moon cake stalls have appeared on the streets of Hanoi with prestigious cake brands, diverse in designs, products, prices... However, in contrast to the crowded number of stalls, the shopping atmosphere at the mobile cake stalls is quite gloomy, with few visitors and shoppers.

A mooncake seller on the sidewalk of Pham Ngoc Thach (Dong Da district, Hanoi) said that the store has been open since the beginning of the 7th lunar month. "This year, the stalls opened earlier than usual to serve different customers, partly to compete with online sales. In the first days of opening, there were almost no customers, occasionally a few customers came by to ask about the price. Consumers who buy at this time mainly buy to try, or send as gifts far away," this employee shared.

Many branded mooncake stalls have appeared on Xa Dan Street, Nam Dong Street, Pham Ngoc Thach Street, Chua Boc Street, Thai Ha Street, Le Trong Tan Street... however, they are all in the same state of "no customers".

"The advantage of traditional cake stalls is that they guarantee the quality, origin, brand, and listed prices, so they gain the trust of buyers," the sales staff shared. The average price of each cake ranges from 60,000 to 100,000 VND/piece. A box of 4 cakes costs an average of 400,000 to 1,000,000 VND/box. Cake prices have increased slightly compared to previous years.
