Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, emphasized that the press today has both opportunities for strong innovation and faces many challenges such as organizational changes, lack of quality personnel, and limitations in managing the multimedia model after the merger.

The rapid development of digital technology and artificial intelligence is putting pressure on the press to constantly innovate, while still maintaining its principles and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of information.

The discussion took place over three sessions, focusing on the following issues: trends in organizing modern multi-platform newsrooms; restructuring the press system and the problem of effective management; content production and distribution models in the digital environment.

Mr. Le Cao Cuong, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, presented a paper at the seminar.

Proposing a direction for the local newspaper, radio and television model, Ms. Dang Thi Phuong Thao , Deputy Director of the Press Department (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), suggested that press agencies must comprehensively innovate in the direction of media convergence , streamlining the apparatus, and partial financial autonomy.

"Content must be public-centric, with diverse forms of expression while still maintaining local identity," she emphasized, and recommended applying digital technology, training a team of multi-talented journalists, and building a reputable brand - shifting from the role of "propaganda" to "trusted friend" of the public.

Sharing at the discussion, Mr. Le Cao Cuong, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, said that recently, Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper has strongly implemented digital transformation, deeply applying technology to the production, publishing and distribution processes of content on print newspapers, electronic newspapers and social networks.

According to Mr. Cuong, the growing trend of technology, especially artificial intelligence (AI), has urged press agencies to make drastic changes in improving processes and reorganizing newsrooms, building digital newsrooms, in which AI is an indispensable application.

Multimedia newsrooms only stop at producing many types of content (print, electronic, video , audio, etc.). Converged newsrooms have made more progress, departments coordinate and share data, images, and topics. But both still operate semi-manually, do not have a digital data platform, do not take advantage of AI, and do not optimize processes with technology. Meanwhile, digital newsrooms not only change the way of making newspapers, but also change the way of thinking, management, and operating model of press agencies.
