Typhoon Matmo enters the East Sea today

It is forecasted that around this evening (October 3), storm Matmo will enter the East Sea and become storm number 11 in 2025.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting at 1:00 a.m. on October 3, the center of storm Matmo was in the sea east of Luzon Island (Philippines), the strongest wind near the center of the storm was level 9 (75-88 km/h), gusting to level 11.

It is forecast that today, storm Matmo will sweep across Luzon Island, then around this evening, the storm will enter the East Sea and become storm number 11 in 2025.

At 1:00 a.m. on October 4, the storm center was in the eastern sea of the North East Sea, with a storm intensity of level 10 (89-102 km/h), gusting to level 12.

During tomorrow day and night, storm Matmo will continue to move rapidly in the west-northwest direction at a speed of 20-25km/h, with the possibility of further strengthening.

At 1:00 a.m. on October 5, the storm center was in the northwest sea of the North East Sea, about 340km east-southeast of Leizhou Peninsula (China), the storm intensity was currently level 12 (118-133km/h), gusting to level 15.

During the day and night of October 5, the storm maintained its speed and direction of movement, passing through the area between the north of Hainan Island and the south of Leizhou Peninsula (China) and then entering the Gulf of Tonkin.

At 1:00 a.m. on October 6, the storm center was in the northern Gulf of Tonkin, with a storm intensity of level 11 (103-117 km/h), gusting to level 13.

After that, storm Matmo is likely to make landfall in the northeastern coastal provinces.

Due to the influence of storm Matmo, from noon and afternoon of October 3, the sea area east of the North East Sea will have winds gradually increasing to level 6-7, then increasing to level 8-9, the area near the storm's center will have strong winds of level 10-11, gusting to level 13, waves 4-6m high.

Between October 4 and 5, the northern sea area of the North East Sea is likely to be affected by strong winds of level 11-12, gusting to level 15.

Vessels operating in the above mentioned dangerous areas are susceptible to the impact of storms, whirlwinds, strong winds and large waves.
