Chinese newspaper nominates coach Troussier for national team

(Dan Tri) - The Chinese football team is currently looking for a head coach and the country's media has nominated Philippe Troussier, former head coach of the Vietnamese team.

After an unsuccessful 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign, the Chinese Football Association (CFA) decided to fire coach Branko Ivankovic. At the recent East Asian Football Cup in South Korea, the Chinese team was led by interim coach Dejan Djurdjevic, who also coached the Chinese U20 team.

The Chinese team's continued lack of success has forced the CFA to continue searching for a new strategist, and the media of the billion-people country has unexpectedly nominated Philippe Troussier, former head coach of the Vietnamese team.

He has also recently been invited to teach at Dalian University of Technology and has received a warm reception from students.
