Important contribution to local human resource development

Nha Trang University is one of the few multi-level, multi-disciplinary, multi-field universities in the South Central region. Over 66 years of establishment and development, the university has trained thousands of bachelors, engineers, masters, and doctors for the province and the whole country. Currently, the university has 71 training programs in 37 undergraduate majors, 17 masters majors, 11 doctoral majors with a training scale of over 15,000 students.

In recent years, the school has focused on developing majors and training programs with high knowledge and technology content to meet the needs of the labor market, especially in areas serving the economic development of the province and the South Central region. By 2025, the school has 13 special, high-quality training programs following the POHE model (career application orientation) and bilingual (English - Vietnamese, French - Vietnamese, English - Chinese). The school is also a pioneer in training in the form of orders from businesses (Minh Phu Seafood Corporation, Hai Vuong Group) with a total budget of about 60 billion VND in 5 years. Along with that, the proportion of students from the province studying at Nha Trang University also tends to increase, accounting for an average of 75.7% of the total number of students each year.

According to Dr. Khong Trung Thang - Party Secretary, Chairman of the Council of Nha Trang University, this is of great significance when a large number of highly qualified human resources will be attached to develop the homeland, especially in the context of many industrial parks, economic zones, and developing resorts. In addition, this force also contributes to the development of regional linkages in the South Central region, in which Khanh Hoa is the core for investment and cooperation. On average, each year, the school trains nearly 1,400 bachelors and engineers to serve the development of the marine economy, focusing on the fields of exploitation, aquaculture, seafood processing, tourism services, and hotel management. However, the province is still facing a shortage of high-quality human resources in a number of occupations, affecting the development and competitiveness of key economic sectors. Therefore, it is necessary to further promote the role of the education system including universities and colleges in the province in the coming time.

Propose many breakthrough solutions

Nha Trang University is one of the 5 universities planned by the Government to develop into a prestigious regional university in the region and the world. In particular, the university is identified as a training and scientific research center, playing a core role in providing high-quality human resources for the South Central and Central Highlands regions, with a training scale of 25,000 to 30,000 students. Based on the key areas that the province focuses on developing, including: Marine economy, industry, tourism, logistics, Nha Trang University has identified 3 breakthrough orientations including: Developing majors and training programs according to international standards, integrating new technologies; closely linking with businesses and the labor market; improving the quality of teaching staff, facilities, creating an international standard training and research environment.

Dr. Khong Trung Thang said that in the coming time, Nha Trang University will promote innovation and develop interdisciplinary training programs on marine science and technology to meet the requirements of modern marine economic development. In addition, it will strengthen the application of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in the training process; cooperate with seaport enterprises, aquaculture, seafood processing and marine research institutes to implement internships and applied research. In the tourism sector, the school focuses on developing high-quality tourism training programs, sustainable tourism, smart tourism; training in hotel management, luxury resorts, and international event organization. In the industrial sector, the school focuses on building training programs to serve high-tech industries such as: Semiconductor technology, automation, robots, renewable energy, new materials. At the same time, proactively seek to conduct training according to orders of industrial parks and factories, especially in Van Phong Economic Zone and energy projects in the south of Khanh Hoa; promote investment in laboratories and high-tech practice workshops, helping students both master theory and master skills. Along with that, the school will focus on developing logistics training programs associated with supply chain management, e-commerce, international transportation, and exploiting the advantages of the province's seaports.

To effectively implement the solutions, Nha Trang University proposed that the province pay attention to and create favorable conditions for land allocation for the school to serve the development period of 2026 - 2030, with a vision to 2035. In addition, the province needs to have specific policies to attract and retain high-quality human resources working at universities and research institutes in the area; prioritize resource allocation, especially public investment capital to support universities in building and upgrading research centers and specialized laboratories, including key areas of the province; organize periodic forums and seminars between training institutions, enterprises and state management agencies for the parties to exchange, grasp market needs and orient training work.
