On September 26, Viet Duc Hospital announced the implementation of electronic medical records, marking an important step in the digital transformation roadmap, towards a smart and modern hospital model according to the direction of the Ministry of Health .
According to Dr. Duong Duc Hung, Director of Viet Duc Hospital, electronic medical records are not simply scanning from paper medical records into data files, more importantly, they are connected to hospital management software.

"This is especially meaningful, from electronic medical records, the data filtering system can assess how disease patterns are changing, so that hospitals can promptly have directions and plans for procurement and bidding to meet treatment needs," said Dr. Hung.
The Director of Viet Duc Hospital said that the significance of electronic medical records is very great, therefore, the hospital is implementing them step by step, firmly, and officially putting them into use will bring many benefits to both doctors and patients.
Previously, when hospitals had not yet converted to digital and used paper medical records, each patient had to wait much longer than the actual time for examination. Patients had to line up to get a number, pay, and then line up again to wait for examination.

When applying digital transformation, patients register for examination through appointment; results are returned to the initial clinic on the system... which has greatly reduced waiting time for patients.
"This benefits both patients and doctors. Doctors have more time to thoroughly advise patients, and doctors have an overall understanding of the patient's condition, even if the patient does not have old medical records.
Applying digital transformation, payment is also convenient, even children can pay in advance for their parents' medical examination packages. Patients who come to the hospital for examination and forget their documents do not have to worry, with just a phone, even with just a fingerprint, they can still have information to perform medical examination and treatment," said Dr. Hung.
All examination results are pushed to the patient's personal phone and the doctor's system. Even if the patient stops the examination halfway for some reason, all data is still returned to the patient in full.

"Electronic medical records are not only a modern medical information management tool but also a breakthrough in improving the quality of medical services, reducing administrative procedures, ensuring confidentiality, accuracy and safety during the treatment process.
With this system, patients will enjoy more benefits, while the medical team has more effective tools to serve the medical examination and treatment work. We ensure the regulations on digital signatures, absolutely ensure the storage of electronic medical records, and ensure the rights and confidentiality of the people," affirmed the Director of Viet Duc Hospital.
Speaking at the event, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam, Deputy Director of Hanoi Social Insurance, highly appreciated the strictness and full compliance with current legal documents of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital in the process of implementing electronic medical records.
Dr. Hung added that the institute will soon deploy artificial intelligence, but at each level because in the medical industry, nothing can replace humans.
