On October 8, information from the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion said that the three patients who were brought to the hospital by Hanoi traffic police on the day Hanoi was flooded (October 7) are all in stable health.

Among them, patient Luong Duy Khanh (born 2005, residing in Muong Thanh, Dien Bien ) fainted at My Dinh bus station and was transfused with 2 units of blood upon being brought to the hospital.

Khanh suffered from thalassemia and was overdue for treatment for more than 2 months. On the evening of October 6, the patient boarded a bus from Dien Bien to Hanoi for treatment. At around 7:45 am on October 7, when arriving at My Dinh bus station, Khanh fainted due to anemia and was helped into the bus office to rest.

Everyone tried to call an ambulance and then find a way to take Khanh to the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, but they couldn't because the area around the bus station was flooded and the vehicle couldn't move.

Upon receiving the information, the Social Work staff of the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion contacted the switchboard of My Dinh bus station, provided information and asked for support from the bus station management board.

When the My Dinh bus station management board saw the traffic police's rescue vehicle on duty near the bus station, they contacted for help. Khanh was immediately transported by stretcher to the rescue vehicle, and arrived at the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion after about 30 minutes for treatment and blood transfusion.

"The patient's hemoglobin test result was only 27g/l, indicating severe anemia (the normal index for a healthy person is 133-168g/l). If not treated promptly, it will be very dangerous.

Yesterday afternoon, the patient was immediately transfused with 2 units of blood upon arriving at the hospital. His health is now stable and he will continue to receive blood transfusions," said the attending physician.

Khanh shared that when she fainted, she was surrounded by water. When she woke up, she was taken to the hospital safely. "I am very grateful to the staff of My Dinh Bus Station Management Board and the traffic police for their wholehearted support," Khanh shared.

Khanh added that his family also has a younger sister with thalassemia. Because she is still young, her mother took her to the hospital. In recent years, he has been going to the hospital alone.

In another case, on the morning of October 7, the working group of Traffic Police Team No. 6, upon seeing a leukemia patient at the Ho Tung Mau - Pham Hung intersection, unable to walk on their own, quickly carried the patient into the car and helped take the patient through the flooded area, promptly to the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion.

This is patient TVK (Bim Son, Thanh Hoa ). The patient has been treated for chronic myeloid leukemia (chronic blood cancer) at the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion for 2 years now.

Early morning on October 7, he left Thanh Hoa to go to the hospital for a scheduled check-up, but unexpectedly in Hanoi, heavy rain flooded all the streets.

The patient's wife said that the couple took a taxi from home at 4am and arrived at the Ho Tung Mau - Pham Hung intersection at 6am, but due to the deep flood, the car could not move. It was not until 11am, thanks to the support of the traffic police, that the couple arrived at the hospital. Mr. K. had a work accident 10 years ago, resulting in paralysis of both lower limbs and severe pressure ulcers, so every time he went to the hospital, he had to lie on a stretcher.

In the third case, Ms. Nguyen Phi Yen also shared about the special car trip to the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion for examination on the morning of October 7.

Although she got up at 5:30 to book a car, due to the heavy rain, there was no car available, so Ms. Yen decided to walk through the water from 232 Pham Van Dong to the hospital. When she arrived at the Hanoi National University train station, Ms. Yen saw a car of traffic police officers on duty. Ms. Yen ran to ask for support and the traffic police officers helped.

The Central Hematology and Blood Transfusion Hospital said that due to the influence of storm No. 11, heavy rain from the night before caused many streets in Hanoi to be deeply flooded on the morning of October 7, paralyzing traffic in some places.

Although the medical examination and treatment activities at the Institute are running normally, it is extremely difficult for patients to get to the Institute. And there have been heartwarming stories on stormy days that have helped their medical examination and treatment activities not be interrupted.
