Reporter: Sir, how is the training process for Level 2 Field Hospital No. 5 to meet the requirements of the United Nations?

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ha Ngoc : Since its establishment, Field Hospital 2.5 has always received the attention of the head of the Ministry of National Defense , the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department and agencies and units inside and outside the army. As the unit directly managing Field Hospital 2.5, Military Hospital 175 (Ministry of National Defense) has closely coordinated with agencies and units in training and preparing for the deployment of Field Hospital 2.5 to participate in the United Nations Peacekeeping operations in South Sudan. In particular, focusing on training in foreign languages, medical expertise, pre-deployment training, military training, physical fitness... Thereby, equipping officers and staff of Field Hospital 2.5 with the necessary knowledge and skills for the task of participating in the United Nations Peacekeeping operations. Up to now, the results of all training contents have met the requirements.

In addition, a strength of BVDC2.5 is youth. The officers and staff of BVDC2.5 have courage, high enthusiasm, and professional qualifications that meet the requirements of the assigned tasks of the United Nations. Many members of BVDC2.5 have grown up from the high-quality human resource development program of Military Hospital 175 , and have been well-trained in developed countries.

Reporter: How has experience from previously deployed field hospitals been applied to Level 2 Field Hospital No. 5, comrade?

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ha Ngoc : With practical experience from the preparation for Field Hospital 2.1 and Field Hospital 2.3, Military Hospital 175 has coordinated with agencies and units to conduct training courses, as well as prepare for Field Hospital 2.5 more carefully and closely. The stages of personnel selection, training, professional training and foreign language proficiency... have closely followed and ensured the requirements of the United Nations.

The advantage of BVDC2.5 is that there are 9 officers and employees from BVDC2.1 and BVDC2.3 who have volunteered to perform tasks at BVDC2.5. This is a team with rich practical experience, the core force of the hospital not only in medical expertise but also in logistics, technical work, foreign affairs... in the near future. With the attention of leaders at all levels and directly through BVDC2.4 which is deployed in South Sudan, BVDC2.5 is researched and regularly updated with information about the area, nature, and professional characteristics... to do well in all preparations.

Reporter: What difficulties has the hospital identified that influence and affect the implementation of its tasks, sir?

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ha Ngoc : The level 2 field hospital force participating in the UN peacekeeping mission is very special, so the preparation for deployment as well as the process of carrying out the mission will encounter certain difficulties. This time, the deployment, movement of forces and handover between Field Hospital 2.4 and Field Hospital 2.5 have had major changes when only one deployment was made, unlike two previous deployments. Therefore, accessing and taking over the entire operational process of Field Hospital 2.5 will be more difficult and complicated, requiring great effort and consensus from the staff of Field Hospital 2.5.

In addition, another difficulty we identified was that during the implementation of the task, many medical and non-medical problems continuously arose, which were not mentioned in precedents and in books and medical literature. In addition, working in a multinational, multilingual, multicultural environment, requiring high cooperation and teamwork, with the working subjects of BVDC2.5 being patients from many countries, would be a big challenge for the staff of BVDC2.5. Therefore, the hospital has prepared specific and general work plans for the term and for each stage, with clear assignment of tasks to ensure quality and efficiency of work.
