VHO - Ahead of the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team suffered a loss of strength when opposite setter Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen will not be joining the team to participate in the tournament in Thailand.

On August 19, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation (VFV) announced that setter Bich Tuyen will not participate in the World Championship with the Vietnamese women's team.

Bich Tuyen missed the opportunity to participate in the World Championship for the first time.

“In this World Championship, the team will not have the service of athlete Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen. For personal reasons, athlete Bich Tuyen has wished not to participate in this competition.

The Vietnam Volleyball Federation and the coaching staff respect the athlete's decision. We affirm that Bich Tuyen will always be an important member and always welcome her return to contribute to the national team in the future when she is ready.

It can be said that the absence of Bich Tuyen is a big loss for the Vietnamese women's team.

The 2000-born setter is in very good form and has always been the top scorer for his team in recent international tournaments.

In the second leg of SEA V.League 2025, Bich Tuyen played explosively, scoring 45 points in the final match against Thailand, thereby contributing greatly to helping the home team win the championship.

The Vietnamese women's team will try to prepare best for the World Championship.

Bich Tuyen also received the MVP title - "Best All-Around Player" and "Best Opposite Passer" in this match.

Previously, Bich Tuyen was also the one who scored the most points and received the title of "Best Opposite Setter" at VTV Cup and Asian Volleyball Cup.

Regarding the women's team participating in the 2025 World Cup. VFV said that tomorrow, August 20, Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his students will leave for Phuket, Thailand to participate in the tournament.

In their first participation, the Vietnamese women's team is in Group G with Poland (ranked 3rd in the world), Germany (ranked 11th in the world) and Kenya (ranked 22nd in the world).

According to the schedule, the Vietnamese women's team will open against Poland (August 23), then meet Germany (August 25), Kenya (August 27).

This is the first time and a valuable opportunity for the Vietnamese women's team to compete on the world stage, approach and compete with major volleyball teams, thereby accumulating experience, developing expertise in preparation for the biggest goal of the year, the 33rd SEA Games.

After returning from Thailand, the Vietnamese women's team will take a short break before returning to training in October.
