A representative of Viettel Telecom said on the evening of September 30 that storm No. 10 with its strong destructive power and the impact of the storm's circulation had severely affected people in the Central provinces. In addition to using the highest level of human resources and resources to ensure infrastructure during and after the storm, Viettel Telecom is also implementing many policies to promptly support customers and people in disaster areas; the customer care system has been supplemented and strengthened to promptly receive incident information and support customers 24/24.
On September 29, when storms caused widespread power outages, Viettel in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh provinces and neighboring areas immediately turned Viettel supermarkets and stores into free phone charging points.
At the charging points, Viettel has arranged many sockets, backup power sources and has staff on duty to be ready to support people so that no one loses connection during this difficult period, helping people feel secure and maintain communication with their families.
“In parallel with providing direct support at stores, thousands of Viettel technical staff are still working day and night at hotspots, under conditions of heavy rain and rising floods to fix problems with the determination to maintain a smooth communication network for people,” said a representative of Viettel Telecom.
Before the storm hit, Viettel Telecom sent warning messages to more than 8 million customers in affected provinces, advising people to fully charge their devices, prepare food and water, check for safe places to live, and limit movement during the storm to ensure personal safety and maintain uninterrupted communication.
This network also simultaneously implemented a 20% promotion program for activated recharge cards in the provinces of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An , Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, and Hue, helping 3.3 million customers in this area prepare their accounts to stay in touch during the storm.
"More than 73,000 customers in areas isolated by floods in Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Lao Cai, and Ha Tinh have had 20,000 VND (equivalent to nearly 1.5 billion VND) added to their accounts to make calls for 5 days. A policy of post-paid subscribers being suspended from calling for 40,000 customers has also been implemented to help people feel secure during the storm," said a representative of Viettel Telecom.
