Hai Linh Beach - a new destination for young people

If Hai Hoa and Bai Dong beaches are quite famous, with a system of large hotels and restaurants, known as the "pearl beach" in the South of Thanh Hoa province, Hai Linh beach is still wild, deserted, and few people know about it. Compared to the noise, crowdedness, and scarcity of rooms of other tourist destinations, if you like, you can go straight to Hai Linh beach (Nghi Son town).

At 5am, Ms. Tran Nga, from Hanoi , got up and went to Hai Linh market to wait for the fishing boats to return to buy seafood. At this time last year, she also came here, went to the market early and bought a batch of fresh green crabs, then asked the owner to steam them, everyone praised them as delicious. Today, she also borrowed the owner's motorbike, went to the market and bought a batch of fresh squid that was still blinking.

Not only Ms. Nga, Ms. Phung Huong, who lives in the center of Nghi Son town, takes her children to Hai Linh beach, 7km from home, on weekends to let them watch fishermen pull in their nets. She shared: One day, I saw more than 20 fishermen gathering in one net but only caught a bunch of tiny fish that were not worth much money. My child told me: If I can't buy anything, I'm just a little sad. Mom, you guys work so hard but can't catch any fish or shrimp, that's what makes you really sad.

Compared to the tourist attractions right in Nghi Son town, this tourist area in Hai Linh is the "youngest". Looking at Ms. Nga's two children, about 3-5 years old, wearing life jackets floating on the water, you can see how excited they are. "Here, in the morning the sea has very few waves, flowing quietly, suitable for children; in the afternoon the sea is covered with white foam, with the sound of waves and the laughter of tourists. I like that feeling". That is also the reason why Ms. Tran Nga chose to come to this pristine sea area.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of visitors to Hai Linh beach has increased rapidly. What is attractive for tourists to come here? Located nearly 200km from Hanoi, which means it only takes about 3 hours to travel, Hai Linh beach is not too far, enough for you to relax and have fun at the beach on the weekend.

With 3.2km of coastline and a long pine forest, the space here is cool and refreshing. "Standing in this space, looking far away to the horizon of the endless blue sea, breathing in the scent of the sun, the scent of the wind, blending with the salty taste of the ocean, quietly following each murmuring sound of the waves... I just want to be able to spread my arms and embrace this beautiful scenery, hide it and keep it for myself. I am sure that those who want to experience the rustic coastal life, want to immerse themselves in nature, will not be able to ignore this address", said Ms. Ha Thi Thuan, residing in Thuong Thanh ward, Long Bien (Hanoi).

Leading us to visit Linh Nam Ecotourism Area located in Phu Dong residential area, Mr. Le Dang Nam, Vice Chairman of Hai Linh Ward People's Committee, said: In the ward, there are currently 3 investment projects including: Linh Nam Ecotourism Area (4ha), Bon Mua Ecotourism Area (17ha) and Hai Linh Ecotourism Area (17ha). However, currently only Linh Nam Ecotourism Area has been put into use with 50 rooms and a homestay area with 10 rooms and is always full.

In addition to Linh Nam eco-tourism area, there are 3 households running motels in the ward. Although the rooms are full, the number of visitors here is still very large, because this place is known as the national beach of campers (people who love camping). Most visitors coming here want to experience sleeping in tents, lying on the sand and under the starry sky.

“On my pickup truck is a mobile home, with tents, tables and chairs, dishes, a kitchen, and even a generator. That’s why my family and I come here several times a year,” said Kieu Hung, a resident of Yen Hoa (Hanoi). For those who don’t have any furniture, they can rent a frog tent for 500,000 VND, including a tent, mattress, mat, fan, and electric wire.

In addition to camping and swimming, visitors to Hai Linh beach can also fly kites, play water sports such as windsurfing, scuba diving, kayaking; experience the life of fishermen; visit the 3-star OCOP product production and processing area of ​​Hoan Ngoc Transport Company Limited with 2 products: Ngoc Hoan strawberry wine and Ngoc Hoan fruit juice.

There are clearly many advantages to developing outdoor tourism and resort tourism, however, to turn the potential into a complete tourism product is a long way. Partly because there is no overall planning, most tourists to Hai Linh beach are free and spontaneous, and the number of tourists has increased dramatically, while the infrastructure has not met the demand, supply cannot meet demand, so management has certain difficulties. There is still littering, environmental pollution, and food safety. In particular, the short stay means that the revenue for businesses and localities is still quite meager. "Looking further, we will see that thanks to the spread of tourists when coming to Hai Linh beach, the image of our locality has been enhanced and many people know about it," Mr. Le Dang Nam, Vice Chairman of Hai Linh Ward People's Committee, affirmed.

Talking about the potential of Hai Linh beach, Mr. Le Ba Hai, Chairman of the Ward People's Committee, said: In recent years, Nghi Son town has invested in traffic infrastructure connecting with Hai Linh beach tourist area, strengthening promotion and attracting investment projects in services and resorts. In addition, the local government also focuses on calling for investment, upgrading infrastructure, environmental landscape to exploit potential, forming resort and marine ecological tourism areas, as well as ensuring dining areas to serve tourists. Currently, this pristine beach has begun to attract the attention of many people inside and outside the province. When this place is connected with tourist destinations such as Am Cac, Hai Hoa, and Dao Me, it will certainly be an attractive destination.

From a dry coastal land with only sand and casuarinas, Hai Linh is now gradually changing its appearance, the lives of households are becoming more prosperous thanks to tourism exploitation. I am sure that in the near future, in the list of beautiful beaches attracting tourists, there will be the name of this beach.
