The Ministry of Public Security continues to investigate the case of leaked 2023 high school graduation exam questions

On the afternoon of June 29, at the press conference of the Ministry of Education and Training about the 2023 high school graduation exam, Mr. Tran Dinh Chung - Deputy Director of the Department of Internal Political Security - said that as soon as he heard that two candidates took photos and sent them outside, the Department and the Ministry of Education and Training quickly coordinated to identify the person connecting them outside.

However, the Department will continue to verify and combine with the declarations of other relevant entities to determine whether there is an explanation to be transmitted or not.

Regarding the plan to handle the two candidates who violated the above, the leader of the Internal Political Security Department said that they will base on the verification results and assess the level and consequences of the problem to consider aggravating and mitigating circumstances. At the same time, they will also base on the behavior to handle appropriately.

"When considering handling, we must also consider humane factors. When there are results, the Department will be notified to the press," Mr. Chuong added.

Regarding the concern about leaking or leaking exam questions, Mr. Chung explained that the word “leak” is used in the Ordinance on Protection of State Secrets. Previously, Mr. Huynh Van Chuong - Director of the Department of Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training) - confirmed the information that two candidates in Cao Bang and Yen Bai used their mobile phones to take pictures of the exam questions and send them to their relatives to solve the exam questions. The Ministry of Education and Training has requested the Internal Political Security Department to verify, clarify and suspend the above two candidates. The Internal Political Security Department is continuing to clarify other related issues to handle them according to the law. He also affirmed that the above two incidents did not affect the exam results.

Nationwide, 1,012,060 candidates registered for the 2023 high school graduation exam with 63 examination councils, including 2,272 examination sites and 43,032 examination rooms. During the two days of the high school graduation exam, 41 candidates were suspended from the exam due to violating the exam regulations (12 candidates in Literature, 4 in Math, 11 in Natural Sciences, 11 in Social Sciences, 3 in Foreign Languages). Among the suspended candidates, 1 student brought and used documents in the exam room, 40 candidates brought phones into the exam room.
The local high school graduation exam steering committee also stopped 6 officials from performing their duties during the exam.
