According to the 2024 regular enrollment plan, the National Economics University will no longer consider recruiting candidates from specialized schools and national key schools using the average score of 3 years of high school transcripts + scores of 2 high school graduation exam subjects.
Explaining the above new point, a representative of the National Economics University said that through the admission results of the years, it shows that the group of candidates for specialized schools that are selected based on academic records are very good, almost all of them meet other conditions regarding test scores to assess capacity, high school graduation exam scores, international certificates, etc. The overlap rate between this group of candidates is quite high, leading to an increase in the virtual rate.
"Removing this group of candidates is to reduce the virtual rate when filtering successful applications, with little impact on the overall admission results and the rights of candidates," said the representative.
The National Economics University explains the method of considering academic records is eliminated.
At the same time, in the 2024 admission season, the National Economics University plans to increase the quota for using the results of prestigious competency and thinking assessment exams such as HAS, APT, TSA, etc. This is aimed at reducing dependence on academic performance and high school graduation exam results.
In particular, in the 2024 admission season, the school will use the method of considering the results of the thinking assessment test (TSA) of Hanoi University of Science and Technology for all admission codes to increase the opportunity for candidates to access, select and apply (in 2023, admission will only be used for 7 codes).
Regarding concerns about whether the school will continue to reduce or eliminate the method of considering high school graduation exam scores in 2025, a school representative said that in 2025, the National Economics University is aiming to stabilize the admission method, "still depending on the results of the high school graduation exam".
The school representative also mentioned a new point in the 2024 university admission plan regarding the conversion score of English certificates to a scale of 10, not 15 like previous years.
Converting international language certificates to scale 10 is a general rule. Even if calculated on scale 15, it must still be converted to scale 10. Therefore, this change avoids double conversion and increases the accuracy of conversion (the more conversions, the larger the tolerance). "Converting to scale 10 does not affect candidates," the representative affirmed.
In 2024, the National Economics University will enroll 6,200 students and 60 training majors/programs.
The school maintains 3 admission methods: considering high school graduation exam scores, direct admission, and admission according to a separate project. In particular, the admission rate based on high school graduation exam scores is reduced to 18% (25% in 2023). At the same time, the school increases the admission rate according to a separate project to 80%. The remaining 2% is for direct admission.
In this special project, the school divides candidates into 4 groups. The first group, students with international certificates, SAT 1200/1600 or ACT 26/36 or higher are eligible for admission.
The second group, candidates have international English certificates combined with the competency assessment scores of two national universities. Candidates must have a minimum English certificate of IELTS 5.5, TOEFL ITP 500, TOEFL iBT 46, TOEIC (Listening and Reading 785, Speaking 160, Writing 150). The competency assessment score requirements are similar to group two.
The third group, candidates participating in the capacity assessment exam of Hanoi National University or Ho Chi Minh City National University, achieved 85 or 700 points or higher.
The fourth group, candidates have an English certificate combined with the scores of two high school graduation exams (in which the compulsory subject is Math, plus the score of any subject other than a foreign language). In addition to the certificate requirements similar to group four, candidates must achieve a minimum of 20 points in one of the school's admission combinations.
Regarding the threshold to ensure input quality, candidates must achieve a minimum of 20 points if admitted using the 2024 high school graduation exam scores.
