Stirring image of 25,000 VND boarding meal with only eggs and a few slices of ham

The image of a boarding meal at Ba Don Primary School No. 1 (Ba Don Ward, Quang Tri) consisting of only a few pieces of ham, half a boiled egg, a little sesame salt and a bowl of thin soup, but costing 25,000 VND, made many people angry.

On the afternoon of October 6, Mr. Tran Thanh Hung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Don Ward ( Quang Tri ) said that the locality had sent officials to check information about the boarding meals at Ba Don Primary School No. 1.

Earlier that morning, on Facebook, a photo of a lunch tray believed to be for boarding students at Ba Don Primary School No. 1 was circulated.

The meal includes white rice, about 3 pieces of ham, a boiled egg cut in half, and what looks like sesame salt. Another photo of the meal shows that it also comes with soup but very few vegetables. The poster said the meal costs 25,000 VND.

The photo quickly attracted many comments saying that the food portion was "small" compared to the price, not ensuring nutrition for students.

Speaking with VietNamNet reporter, Mr. Tran Thanh Hung said that after receiving the information, this afternoon the ward sent a ward vice chairman and head of the cultural and social department to work directly with the Board of Directors of Ba Don Primary School No. 1.

The ward requested the school to explain the content reflected on social networks, then report specifically to the People's Committee leaders.
