On the morning of September 16, at the Gymnasium of the General Service Center of Tri Ton commune, the Department of Culture and Sports of An Giang province coordinated with the Newspaper and An Giang Radio - Television Station to organize a professional meeting, draw lots to schedule the competition and award numbers to the pairs of oxen participating in the Bay Nui Ox Racing Festival for the 30th An Giang Television (ATV) Cup in 2025.

64 pairs of oxen compete in a knockout format

The 30th Bay Nui Ox Racing Festival for the An Giang Television (ATV) Cup in 2025 attracted 64 pairs of excellent oxen from the following communes and wards: Tri Ton, Ba Chuc, O Lam, Co To, Vinh Gia, An Cu, Nui Cam, Giang Thanh, Chi Lang and Tinh Bien. These are localities with a long-standing tradition associated with the unique ox racing festival of the Khmer people in the South.

The teams draw lots to compete.

The pairs of bulls will compete in a knockout format, based on the drawn codes. Each race consists of 2 pairs of bulls competing against each other. After the "calling" round, the pairs of bulls will accelerate fiercely in the "release" round - the stage that determines speed and endurance.

The pair of oxen that finishes first, or the pair that comes after but steps on the plow of the pair in front, will be considered the winner and will advance to the next round. The final round will determine the best pair of oxen of the tournament, and win the championship cup.

30th Anniversary - Provincial-Level Festival

According to the organizers, this year's prize structure includes: 1 first prize, 1 second prize, 1 third prize, 1 fourth prize, 4 consolation prizes and a prize for the best ox driver. The prizes include: Cup, flag, gifts and cash.

The Bay Nui Bull Racing Festival is not only a traditional sport with rich cultural identity, but also marks the 30th time the tournament has been held at the provincial level. In particular, this is the first time after the merger of An Giang and Kien Giang provinces, further enhancing the symbolic and solidarity significance of the event.

The 30th Bay Nui Bull Racing Festival for the An Giang Television (ATV) Cup in 2025 is expected to bring exciting competitions and create a vibrant festival atmosphere, contributing to preserving and promoting the unique traditional cultural values ​​of the Khmer people in the Bay Nui region.
