Positive results

In the 2020-2025 term, An Giang province has made strong progress with encouraging results in all three areas of science and technology, innovation and digital transformation. The province has paid attention to and promoted the research, application and transfer of science and technology.

In the period of 2020 - 2025, the Provincial People's Committee has directed the science and technology sector to implement 210 science and technology tasks at all levels in many fields such as agriculture, medicinal materials, medicine, culture, society... The research results have been accepted and applied to practical life as well as production, providing a scientific basis for strategic planning and socio -economic development of the province.

The science and technology sector has implemented 8 projects to support the application and innovation of technology with a total budget of nearly 20 billion VND. The projects focus on promoting the application of scientific and technological advances in production to increase the technological content of the province's key products. Thereby, improving the competitiveness of local products in the national market and expanding international cooperation opportunities.

At Phu Hoa Youth Agricultural Service Cooperative (Tan Hoi Commune, An Giang Province), the power of science and technology has completely changed the farming process here. Farmers proactively master technology, apply scientific and technical advances into production, helping to reduce costs, increase productivity and rice output.

Director of Phu Hoa Youth Agricultural Service Cooperative Nguyen Van Huynh shared: “Currently, all production stages from land preparation, sowing, fertilizing, to harvesting have been done by machines, 100% mechanized. In addition, the cooperative applies information technology and digital technology in disease monitoring, controlling irrigation water using applications on mobile devices. Thanks to bringing science and technology into the fields, we have reduced production costs, and profits have increased compared to before.”

The province has invested synchronously in digital infrastructure and information systems. State agencies at all levels in the province have completed e-Government and are focusing on building digital Government, applying information technology in administrative procedure reform, and providing online public services to people and businesses.

Digital transformation has permeated deeply into social life, many practical utilities have been deployed. The percentage of adults with basic knowledge about digital transformation is over 71%.

“Digital transformation in the economic sector in the commune has achieved many positive results. Many business households, cooperatives, and farmers have applied digital technology to production, business, product promotion on e-commerce platforms, and connecting to consume OCOP products. People are proficient in using non-cash payments in educational and training institutions, medical facilities in the commune, especially at markets and service points,” said Tran Binh Trong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Kien Luong Commune.

According to the Director of the Department of Science and Technology of An Giang province, Vo Minh Trung, with new development space and vision, An Giang province is playing the role of one of the key localities in developing agricultural economy, marine economy, services, along with ensuring food security and border security. The application of science and technology, combining innovation and digital transformation plays an essential role in orienting green growth, adapting to climate change; improving productivity and product quality; increasing the value of processed products; promoting competitiveness, expanding markets; improving people's lives, and at the same time improving the effectiveness of state management. Developing science and technology, innovation and digital transformation will be a strategic breakthrough for An Giang province to successfully achieve the socio-economic development goal with a double-digit growth rate in the period 2025 - 2030.

In the period of 2025 - 2030, the science and technology sector of An Giang province will synchronously deploy many solutions to improve the efficiency of scientific research, technology transfer, develop a creative startup ecosystem and digital economy to create new models and driving forces for the province's growth.

An Giang continues to promote communication activities to implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation by 2030 in the province. Develop specific mechanisms and policies, incentives for science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation.

The province invests resources to implement breakthrough research programs; prioritizes key and potential industries (marine economy, biotechnology, agricultural processing, medicinal materials, high-tech agriculture, AI); Strengthens the application and transfer of science and technology; prioritizes the application of digital transformation (IoT, AI, Big Data...) in production, agriculture, healthcare, tourism, education and serving management, forecasting and improving competitiveness. Accelerates the development and completion of digital infrastructure and smart cities in Rach Gia, Ha Tien, Phu Quoc, Long Xuyen, Chau Doc...
