Vietnam women's volleyball team ranked 4th in Shanghai tournament

In the third-place match of Shanghai Future Star 2025, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team could not overcome the host team U21 Shanghai.

This match is an opportunity for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team to win a medal. Therefore, coach Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa put out the strongest lineup with Kim Thoa, Nguyen Thi Uyen, Pham Thi Hien, Bich Thuy, Nguyen Thi Phuong, Kieu Trinh, Ly Ly.

However, they could not create an overwhelming effect against the young athletes of U21 Shanghai. The first step continued to be a big obstacle, making it difficult for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team to launch an attack. Even libero Luu Thi Ly Ly made many mistakes.

Besides, the physical strength was worn down after the 5-set loss in the semi-final less than 12 hours ago, putting the Vietnamese team at a disadvantage.

Shanghai U21 with better physique and tactics won quickly 3-0 (17-25, 23-25, 23-25).

Thus, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team ranked 4th overall at the Shanghai Future Star 2025 tournament. However, this achievement is an improvement from last year when the team only ranked 5th overall.

In addition, the team's reserve athletes as well as the young players have been given more opportunities to compete and gain experience. This tournament can help the coaching staff evaluate the ability and performance of each individual to prepare for the two upcoming major tournaments: the U21 Women's Volleyball World Championship and the Women's Volleyball World Championship.
