Ca Mau, clean energy and seafood center – Attractive to Japanese investors

On the morning of September 8, 2025, in Ca Mau province, leaders of the Department of Finance and representatives of departments and branches had a working session with the working delegation of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), led by Mr. Okabe Mitsutoshi - Chief Representative of JETRO Office in Ho Chi Minh City.

The meeting aimed to exchange information on the potential and strengths of Ca Mau province after the merger, and discuss the need to promote investment, trade and cooperation opportunities with Japanese enterprises in the coming time. Representative of Ca Mau province, Mr. Ngo Van Huynh - Deputy Director of the Department of Finance, introduced an overview of the potential, advantages and development orientation of the locality. Ca Mau is currently focusing on attracting investment in key areas: agriculture - forestry - fishery (especially aquaculture), marine economy , renewable energy (wind power, liquefied gas), industrial infrastructure and eco-tourism. For Japanese enterprises, the province especially calls for investment in high-tech agriculture, clean energy, industrial infrastructure and training of human resources in science and technology.

Mr. Okabe Mitsutoshi briefly introduced JETRO - an organization under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI). In Vietnam, JETRO has two offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, with the role of supporting Japanese enterprises to learn about the investment environment. The goal of this working trip is to survey the potential and strengths of Ca Mau, thereby introducing to the Japanese business community interested in investment opportunities in the locality.
Currently, in Ca Mau province, there are 15 FDI ​​enterprises with 29 projects in operation, coming from Japan, Australia, the United States, Singapore, China, Thailand, South Korea... with a total investment capital of about 4.85 billion USD. To attract investors, Ca Mau applies many preferential policies at the highest level of the country on tax, land lease, equipment and raw material import.

In particular, a series of key infrastructure projects are being implemented such as: Ca Mau - Can Tho Expressway, Ca Mau - Dat Mui Expressway, Hon Khoai Island - mainland bridge, Hon Khoai Dual-use Port, upgrading Ca Mau Airport, Nam Can Economic Zone. This will be the foundation for Ca Mau to soon become the leading clean energy and seafood export center in the country, associated with the goal of sustainable development and international integration.
