In the middle of the busy streets at rush hour, at a vinyl record cafe in District 1 (HCMC), there are many customers coming and going, mainly young people.

A unique experience with vinyl records

After immersing herself in the deep, classical atmosphere, Kieu Nga (21 years old, living in Go Vap district) said that this was a "unique" feeling. She shared that she is a person who likes listening to music on vinyl records. Whenever she has free time, Nga will ride her motorbike to her "favorite" coffee shop to relax and listen to music.

"I choose to sit at vinyl record cafes because I like classical music , watching the record spin and humming along to each melody. This is a very interesting experience, combining enjoying drinks and music" - Kieu Nga happily confided.

Nowadays, young people often choose to listen to ballads, pop music... Compared to modern music, vinyl records have depth because this is a type of music with a long history and a very unique sound. Listening to music with vinyl records not only helps you enjoy relaxing time, but also brings a more complete music enjoyment experience.

Similarly, Thanh Thao (20 years old) also from Binh Thanh district went with her friend to visit the vinyl cafe. This was the first time Thanh Thao experienced such a "brand new" feeling.

As someone who likes quiet spaces, Thao thinks that vinyl record cafes are really her style. "I feel peaceful, listening to deep music melodies, the more I listen, the better it gets," Thao confided.

Sharing passion for music with the community

Talking about the idea of opening a cafe serving vinyl records, Mr. Lam Hoang Dat (District 1) said that this model has been around for a long time. This is also his hobby of collecting records, which was passed down from his relatives. Mr. Dat's family has a special passion for this type of record.

"I opened a coffee shop because I have been working in the industry for a long time, and because I like listening to music, I combined the two hobbies together," Dat explained.

"Opening a vinyl cafe is my way of sharing my musical taste, helping people learn more about this type of music and giving customers the best relaxing experiences," he added.

It can be said that music is a factor that helps young people feel more comfortable when hanging out at coffee shops. Especially, coming to vinyl coffee shops, young people with the same passion can meet, exchange and expand their circle of connections.

The origin of vinyl records

The vinyl record has its origins in the early days of the recording and broadcasting industry. It was developed in the wake of the invention of the phonograph and recording systems in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Thomas Edison, an American inventor, is known for developing the first successful phonograph in 1877. In the 1890s, German inventor Emile Berliner developed the vinyl record as we know it today. He used Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) to make the disc and a spiral groove system to record sound, instead of the previous circular grooves.
