Singer Duy Manh sues Mercedes-Benz

(NLDO) - Mercedes-Benz confirmed that it did not make the statement: "The mouse is criminally responsible" as posted by singer Duy Manh.

Singer Duy Manh recently shared a post on his personal page about his Mercedes-Benz S450 Luxury suddenly catching fire while parked in an apartment building parking lot in Ho Chi Minh City on the evening of February 15, 2023, while he was performing in Da Nang . At that time, the car was turned off and locked, so the security guard had to pry open the hood to put out the fire. Thanks to the timely response, the fire was controlled and did not cause major damage. The car was then transferred to a gathering place in Thu Duc City and sealed by the authorities.

Nearly a month later, the police concluded that the car fire was caused by an electrical short circuit. The insurance company initially paid 2.9 billion VND in compensation, but after re-examination, the car company concluded that "the car fire was caused by rodents because there were rat droppings and garbage in the car, and there were rat bite marks."

Singer Duy Manh disagreed and filed a lawsuit. The conciliation session in court was unsuccessful, as the car company maintained its stance, so the court set April 25 to hear the case.

Notably, singer Duy Manh also recounted some details during the mediation session. Accordingly, this singer asked the car company representative if the car fire spread to other cars, even leading to a fire in the apartment building, would the criminal responsibility belong to the company or the mouse.

At this time, the company representative announced: "The mouse is criminally responsible." Immediately, the answer caused a stir in the online community.

Immediately after the statement of singer Duy Manh, Mercedes-Benz Vietnam informed the press, affirming that the statement “the mouse is criminally responsible” did not originate from the company. Mercedes-Benz Vietnam does not authorize any individual or organization to represent the company to make such a statement.

Singer Duy Manh's car caught fire

In addition, this car company continues to affirm that the cause of singer Duy Manh's car fire was due to rodent infestation, not due to a technical defect of the product.

The car company emphasized that the cause of the fire was seriously investigated by the company with the distributor and related organizations, including domestic and foreign technical experts.

The company also said that singer Duy Manh had previously withdrawn his lawsuit to receive compensation from the insurance company. The car was then repossessed by the insurance company, the damaged electrical parts were repaired and resold on the market at a significant value.

Up to now, the male singer has continued to sue, asking the car company to compensate for the remaining difference after deducting the compensation from insurance.

It is known that the Mercedes-Benz S450L was bought by singer Duy Manh in 2020 for about 5 billion VND and the fire occurred in 2023.
