In the first 9 months of 2025, the world situation continued to witness many major fluctuations, especially geopolitical tensions, fluctuations in freight rates, restructuring of shipping line alliances, and new US tariff policies applied to many countries, including Vietnam.
Despite the impact of the global context, operations at Cai Mep - Thi Vai port cluster still achieved positive results. Total container throughput from mother vessels in the first 9 months of the year reached 5.6 million TEUs, an increase of 18% over the same period in 2024, an encouraging increase, showing the competitiveness and strong resilience of this strategic seaport area.

Mr. Phan Hoang Vu - General Director of Saigon Port International Container Services Joint Venture Company - SSA (SSIT), shared: "For SSIT port, operations are going very well. As of the end of September 2025, port throughput increased by about 47% compared to the same period last year."
Along with that, Cai Mep International Terminal (CMIT) also recorded positive results when the mother ship throughput in the first 9 months of the year reached more than 900,000 TEUs, an increase of 28% over the same period, clearly reflecting the strong recovery trend of international transport.
Not only stopping at current operations, Gemalink Port, one of 19 container ports in the world capable of receiving ships of up to 250,000 DWT, has just sent a document proposing to continue investing in the Cai Mep Ha General Port project, with a commitment to a stable source of goods from strategic partners.

According to experts, the steady double-digit growth of the CM-TV port cluster is clear evidence of the position and potential for marine economic development of Ho Chi Minh City after the merger.
The development orientation of Ho Chi Minh City aims to turn Cai Mep - Thi Vai area into a leading transit port cluster in the region, with a wharf length of about 22km, larger than the scale of Singapore port. When completed, this will be the only port area in the world with outstanding wharf length and the ability to receive the largest container ships today, creating a strategic advantage in the global logistics chain.
