On June 1, the Standing Committee of the Can Tho City Party Committee met to give opinions according to its authority on the planning dossier of Can Tho City for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.

Up to now, Can Tho City People's Committee has revised functional areas such as: Phong Dien ecological urban area; Co Do new urban area to National Highway 80; adjusted contents on solid waste treatment; adjusted water supply and drainage planning, cemeteries; updated administrative boundaries and arranged administrative units...

In addition, Can Tho City has also reviewed and updated the project list and information of each project such as: expected scale, expected location, expected boundary; completed the map of traffic infrastructure development plan, focusing on road infrastructure including expressway system, national highway, inter-provincial road... At the same time, completed the map of industrial park development plan, land use planning plan map, spatial development plan map...

Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Nguyen Van Hieu, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee, proposed: The Party Committee of the City People's Committee should absorb opinions at the meeting to complete the planning according to the plan and schedule to submit to the City People's Council for approval at the regular session in mid-2023. Planning agencies should organize the implementation of the next procedural steps to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Planning Law and current laws. Coordinate with central ministries and branches to submit to the Prime Minister for approval in the third quarter of this year.

In addition, the Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee noted that city planning must focus on solutions to respond to climate change and rising sea levels; city planning needs to pay attention to creating land funds for industrial development, developing high-quality services such as education , healthcare, logistics; reserving land funds to build resettlement areas to build works and projects in the future.
