President Luong Cuong: Placing expectations on the development of Ho Chi Minh City with a pioneering and leading role

On the afternoon of October 1, the Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly Delegation Unit No. 10, including delegates: Luong Cuong, Politburo member, President; Nguyen Thi Le, former Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, former Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council; Major General Phan Van Xung, former Political Commissar of the Ho Chi Minh City Command, met with voters of the communes: An Nhon Tay, Thai My, Nhuan Duc, Tan An Hoi, Cu Chi, Phu Hoa Dong, Binh My, Hoc Mon, Ba Diem, Xuan Thoi Son, Dong Thanh (Ho Chi Minh City), before the 10th session of the 15th National Assembly.

President Luong Cuong at the meeting with voters

Speaking at the meeting, President Luong Cuong informed that the 10th session of the National Assembly is of special importance, both summarizing the activities of the term and orienting the new development stage of the country. In this session, the National Assembly will consider and decide on many major contents, including 45 draft laws and resolutions related to socio-economics and the state budget, creating an important legal corridor to unleash resources for national development.

The President expressed his joy when meeting voters of 11 communes in Ho Chi Minh City for the first time after 3 months of operating the 2-level local government model. The President commented that the new model has initially brought about many positive results, but there are also problems and difficulties as voters pointed out. These are issues related to planning, land, taxes, traffic, administrative procedures, etc.

The President asked the communes to fully synthesize voters' opinions, focus on removing obstacles, and continue to promote effective work, for the goal of organizing a streamlined two-level local government apparatus that operates effectively, efficiently, and is close to the people.

Regarding the contents under the Central authority, the National Assembly Delegation Unit No. 10 will receive, synthesize fully and report to the competent authorities. With personal responsibility, the President will also directly discuss with the agencies during the working process.

Briefing on the current general situation, the President emphasized that our country continues to achieve many important results. Among those results are the important contributions of the Party Committee, government and people of Ho Chi Minh City. The President shared that the last months of the year have a huge amount of work, urgent time, high requirements, requiring all levels and sectors from central to local levels, all cadres, party members and people to strive and unite to perform well the tasks.

The President commented that Ho Chi Minh City has great potential and advantages, and the Party Central Committee has high expectations for the city's development in its pioneering and leading role. The President hopes and believes that the Party Committee, government and people of Ho Chi Minh City will continue to unite closely, be unified, and focus on successfully completing all tasks. Thereby, contributing to the whole country entering a new era, an era of strong, prosperous development.
