Khanh Hoa: Finding solutions to develop marine science and technology

On October 1, in Nha Trang ward (Khanh Hoa province), Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee coordinated with Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (UEH) to organize the international conference "Ocean Future 2025".

The workshop aimed to find solutions for Khanh Hoa to develop sustainably, in harmony between coastal life and the application of modern technology. Nearly 100 domestic and international scientists and experts from the US, Korea, Italy, Malaysia and Singapore also attended.

Mr. Le Huyen, Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, said that the province has a strategic position, being the gateway to the East Sea with nearly 500km of coastline and 200 islands. Khanh Hoa's sea area has a coral reef area of ​​more than 7,600 hectares, the largest in the country, and at the same time possesses a special upwelling area, forming a key fishing ground and favorable conditions for the production of aquatic breeds, salt, etc.

According to the plan until 2030, Khanh Hoa will become a centrally-governed city, an international sea tourism and service center, one of the high growth poles of the marine economy . The orientation of sustainable development of the marine economy is closely linked to biodiversity conservation and scientific management of marine space, ensuring green and sustainable growth...

Resolution No. 01-NQ/TU of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee identifies breakthroughs in science and technology development and digital transformation as two key objectives, aiming to realize the vision of turning the province into a high-growth pole of the country. This requires Khanh Hoa to take drastic and synchronous steps, with specific solutions to realize the aspiration of becoming a center of marine economy, smart city and livable city of the region.

Citing a report from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Professor and Doctor Su Dinh Thanh, Director of UEH, said that the marine economy is growing rapidly, from marine biotechnology to renewable energy and smart maritime logistics; it is one of the important development trends of the century.

In Vietnam, Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW affirms the strategic role of the marine economy, with the goal of building a strong and prosperous nation from the sea. In particular, Khanh Hoa province is located near the international shipping route, possessing great potential for maritime, tourism, aquaculture and green energy, opening up opportunities for strong development of a sustainable marine economy...

At the workshop, domestic and international experts and scientists discussed and shared many perspectives and orientations for sustainable marine economic development in the context of globalization.

Within the framework of the program, UEH also signed cooperation agreements with a number of units and enterprises to promote cooperation in training and communication of human resource development policies.

On the same afternoon, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee coordinated with UEH to organize the Award Ceremony of the 4th International Design Competition: Sustainable economic and cultural development through connecting urban landscapes in Cai River - Nha Trang. The competition aims to find highly feasible ideas, developing Cai River axis into a new "heritage route" of Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa, harmoniously connecting traditional landscapes and modern urban areas.
