The fake fanpage of the Lam Thao District Fatherland Front Committee calls for support for families affected by the Phong Chau bridge collapse.
Talking to the Phu Tho Province Electronic Information Portal, Mr. Nguyen Manh Toan - Chairman of the Lam Thao District Fatherland Front Committee affirmed: In the face of the impacts of storm No. 3 and the circulation of storm No. 3 in the district, especially after the incident of Phong Chau bridge breaking pillar T7 and collapsing 2 main spans of the bridge, the Lam Thao District Fatherland Front Committee is focusing on coordinating with branches, localities and units in the district to urgently deploy measures to respond to floods to ensure the safety of life and property for people and the State, so at this time, there has not been any call for support for the victims and their families. Therefore, the information that the Lam Thao District Fatherland Front Committee called for support for people affected by the Phong Chau bridge collapse on the fanpage is incorrect; people need to be vigilant and not transfer money to personal accounts on fake fanpages.
Immediately after discovering the fake fanpage, the District Fatherland Front Committee coordinated with the police to verify and clarify the fake subject. At the same time, promptly propagate and post official information about the flood situation, instructions of the district leaders and the District Command Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue; post warning information about fake content on the official Fanpage of the Lam Thao Front and the Lam Thao District Electronic Information Portal.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Thuy - Deputy Director of Phu Tho Department of Information and Communications: With the speed of information spreading instantly and quickly, the fact that subjects take advantage of natural disasters and floods to carry out fraudulent acts on social networks not only causes economic damage to people but also reduces the community's trust in genuine charitable activities.
“At present, when accessing information on social networks, people need to select information, not share inaccurate and unverified information; raise vigilance, not send donations and support to people affected by floods to potentially risky accounts. Agencies, units and localities need to promote sharing and widely spreading information warning information, helping people access information sources in an official and accurate way. Along with that, detecting and reporting fake and fraudulent pages is also a way to contribute to protecting the community" - Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Thuy recommended.
In recent days, many localities in the province such as Ha Hoa, Cam Khe, Yen Lap, Tam Nong, Lam Thao... have been severely affected by floods; especially the incident of Phong Chau bridge breaking pillar T7 and collapsing 2 main spans on the morning of September 9, 2024. In that situation, some subjects used social networks to post false information about the storm and flood situation in the localities with titles such as: "Dam break in Yen Lap", "Flood in Ha Hoa" or some articles, clips with content, rescue images of a car said to be one of the vehicles involved in the Phong Chau bridge collapse, swept away by water for 10km, saving 4 people in the car... Currently, the authorities have verified the subjects and are in the process of clarifying their actions to consolidate the records and handle them according to the provisions of the law.
