Police continue to request Yoo Ah In's arrest

Chosun Media reported that on September 18, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office's investigation agency said it had requested an arrest warrant for Uhm Hong Sik (37 years old, stage name Yoo Ah In) and an acquaintance of the actor on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act, inciting the destruction of evidence and evading charges.

Actor Yoo Ah In continues to be arrested by the investigation agency.

According to the prosecution, Yoo Ah In was found to have used the banned substance propofol (a sedative, anesthetic similar to mild narcotics, often used as prescribed by a doctor, overdose will cause addiction) about 200 times at hospitals around Seoul since 2020 under the pretext of anesthesia for cosmetic surgery.

In addition, the "King of Korean cinema" was also investigated for illegally receiving prescriptions for about 1,000 sleeping pills under the name of others dozens of times.

In May 2023, the police had requested an arrest warrant for Yoo Ah In, but the court rejected it. After accepting the case, the prosecution conducted a 3-month supplementary investigation.

After the investigation, the prosecution accused the actor of inciting an acquaintance to destroy evidence. Yoo Ah In was also accused of forcing members of his group to smoke marijuana in the US.

To cover up the incident, the actor's acquaintances lured his accomplices to flee abroad and threatened the related accomplices to withdraw their statements.

The actor is now charged with illegal drug use after testing positive for seven drugs.

Previously, Yoo Ah In was investigated by the police for his frequent use of propofol. According to the investigation results, the actor was accused of using 5 types of drugs including marijuana, cocaine, ketamine and zolpidem. In addition, he also confirmed that he used Propofol and Ketamine to treat his illness.
