U23 Vietnam players set goal to attend Asian Cup 2023

On the afternoon of December 29, U23 Vietnam continued to practice at the youth training ground of the Vietnam Football Federation. Striker Nguyen Van Truong is one of 29 players on Coach Troussier's list.

In the interview before the training session, Nguyen Van Truong said he learned many lessons after the 2018 Southeast Asian U23 tournament. At that time, this player was tackled from behind by a U23 Philippines midfielder. He got angry, pushed and yelled at his opponent. Despite the referee's intervention, in the extra time, Van Truong continued to push and shove the player who had previously committed the foul.

Nguyen Van Truong is determined to correct his mistakes and perform better in the U23 Vietnam shirt.

Coach Hoang Anh Tuan was very upset and corrected his student's attitude after that match.

" Every time I participate in a tournament, I learn a lesson and I have a valuable lesson to grow more mature. I will try my best in this training session, but what I have experienced should not be repeated, " said Nguyen Van Truong.

This is the 6th training session of U23 Vietnam in 2023, aiming for the U23 Asian finals taking place next year. Coach Philippe Troussier continues to let the U23 and national teams practice in parallel.

In addition, Mr. Troussier can add good performers of U23 Vietnam to the national team for the 2023 Asian Cup. Nguyen Van Truong considers this a target in this training session.

" The coach said that we all have the chance to be on the national team. So we just try our best to meet his requirements. We all set that goal ," Nguyen Van Truong shared.

In today's training session, three national team members, Nguyen Hai Long, Do Thanh Thinh and Le Ngoc Bao, practiced early with the U23 Vietnam team to get used to the atmosphere and training intensity.

In addition, coach Troussier called up Tran Hoang Phuc (HCMC Club), midfielder Nguyen Anh Tu ( Hoa Binh Club) and striker Bui Van Binh (Ba Ria Vung Tau Club), replacing defender Nguyen Quang Huy (Ba Ria Vung Tau Club), Luong Duy Cuong (SHB Da Nang Club) and striker Nguyen Minh Quang (SHB Da Nang Club).

It is expected that on December 31, all Vietnamese national team players will gather to prepare for the 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar.
