According to Opta statistics, Chelsea is the first team in English football history to lose 6 consecutive domestic cup finals. The Blues set a sad record after losing 0-1 to Liverpool in the English League Cup final this season.
Previously, Chelsea had experienced 5 defeats in the 2019 English League Cup final (lost to Man City), 2020 FA Cup final (lost to Arsenal), 2021 FA Cup final (lost to Leicester), 2022 FA Cup final (lost to Liverpool), 2022 English League Cup final (lost to Liverpool).
The consolation for Chelsea is that they still enjoy the joy of international finals despite their "bad luck" in the domestic arena. The Blues have won the 2019 Europa League, 2021 Champions League, 2021 European Super Cup and 2021 FIFA Club World Cup.
Coach Mauricio Pochettino has yet to win his first title in English football. Before watching Liverpool lift the trophy with Chelsea last night, he lost the League Cup final with Tottenham in 2015.
