Identifying that the private economy and the enterprise team have an important position and role for the development of the locality, Lai Vung commune has been focusing on directing and consistently implementing the policy of the Government accompanying, connecting and sharing with the business community with the motto "Taking enterprises as the center, aiming at enterprises", creating favorable conditions for enterprises to develop. Up to now, the whole commune has about 171 enterprises, 1,242 establishments operating in industries such as: food processing, food, aquatic feed, plastic, rice flakes, spring rolls, mats...

Regarding infrastructure, Lai Vung commune is constantly invested and upgraded. Currently, the commune has Song Hau Industrial Park with an area of 63.56 hectares, of which the industrial land area is 47.018 hectares; 46.014 hectares have been leased, with a occupancy rate of 97.86%. There are 10 investment projects in Song Hau Industrial Park, with a total registered capital of about 2,832 billion VND (including 2 projects with foreign investment capital with a total investment capital of 65.84 million USD). Regarding industrial clusters, Lai Vung commune has 1 Dinh An Industrial Cluster (old Lap Vo district) established under Decision No. 16/QD-UBND.HC dated January 7, 2013 of the Provincial People's Committee.

Regarding agriculture , Lai Vung commune has traditional strengths with specialty fruit trees, especially Lai Vung pink grapefruit; along with mango, durian, custard apple products and diverse aquaculture models such as cage fish, commercial pangasius... in the direction of applying high technology, developing along the value chain, bringing sustainable economic efficiency.

Regarding traditional occupations, Lai Vung commune is also famous for making Lai Vung spring rolls, a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, imbued with local identity. In addition, Lai Vung commune also has many traditional craft villages such as Dinh Yen mat village; Tan Phuoc rice paper village; Dinh An hammock rack and cutting board making village. In particular, Lai Vung commune has great potential for tourism , in which the strength of spiritual tourism is the Dinh Yen communal house. At the same time, developing Con Qua tourism - a promising ecological destination, along with traditional craft village tourism and unique fruit garden tourism...

At the meeting, representatives of former local leaders and the business community, farmers expressed their wish that Lai Vung commune needs to adjust the general planning to improve the local position. Along with that, it is necessary to clearly define the economic structure to exploit the potential advantages of existing industrial parks and clusters; develop high-tech agriculture well; exploit the transportation system well with provincial roads, national highways and extended waterways. At the same time, build good policies to support the development of the business community. Pay attention to investing in building cultural programs to promote the advantages of traditional craft villages associated with tourism in the commune...
