An associate professor candidate withdrew his application at the last minute.

On November 23, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , Associate Professor Dr. Duong Nghia Bang - Deputy Chief of Office of the State Council of Professors - said that the Chairman of the State Council of Professors has just signed a decision to recognize the qualifications for the title of professor and associate professor in 2024 for 614 candidates, including 45 professors and 569 associate professors.

Compared to the list of candidates meeting the standards for professor and associate professor in 2024 announced after the second meeting of the State Council of Professors for the 2024-2029 term (taking place on November 2 and 3), the number of officially recognized candidates is now 1 less.

“During the 14-day period of publicizing the list as prescribed, there was one candidate for associate professor of the agriculture and forestry professor council who submitted a request to withdraw his application based on his personal wishes and was accepted by the State Professor Council,” Mr. Bang added.

Thus, compared to 2023, the number of candidates officially recognized as meeting the standards of professors and associate professors has decreased. Last year, 630 candidates were recognized as meeting the title standards, including 58 professors and 572 associate professors.

The youngest associate professor is 33 years old, the youngest professor is 40 years old

According to the official list for 2024, economics and medicine are the two fields with the largest number of candidates meeting the standards for the titles of professor and associate professor this year.

The Economics Professor Council has 100 candidates who meet the standards for the title of professor and associate professor in 2024.

The medical professor council has 71 candidates who meet the standards for the titles of professor and associate professor.

The interdisciplinary council of professors of philosophy - political science - sociology has the fewest qualified candidates for the titles of professor and associate professor this year, with 2 professors and 2 associate professors.

This year, the literature department has no candidates applying for associate professor or professor. The departments without professor candidates include: pharmacy, education, military science, metallurgy, linguistics, culture and arts, and physical education and sports.

Ms. Tran Ngoc Mai, in the field of economics, is the youngest candidate to qualify as an associate professor in 2024. Ms. Mai (33 years old, from Binh Luc, Ha Nam) is currently the deputy head of the international investment department, faculty of international business, Banking Academy.

The youngest new professor this year was born in 1984 (40 years old), Mr. Hoang Le Truong, majoring in mathematics.

Mr. Truong is currently working at the Institute of Mathematics, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.
