The President's participation in the High-Level General Debate on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the United Nations is of great significance, affirming Vietnam's strong commitment to multilateralism and the core values of the United Nations. The participation of the President and the Vietnamese delegation not only demonstrates the Party and State's deep interest in multilateral cooperation and the major agendas of the United Nations, but also affirms Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification, proactive and active international integration comprehensively, deeply and effectively.
On the other hand, the President's working trip also took place on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United States and the 2nd anniversary of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. This is an opportunity for both countries to look back on their journey from former enemies to friends, partners, Comprehensive Partners, to Comprehensive Strategic Partnerships, and at the same time build a roadmap to continue to sustainably, effectively and substantially implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework; discuss major orientations and measures to continue to maintain the positive, stable and substantial development momentum of the relationship in the coming years.
