Within the framework of the official visit to Vietnam and co-chairing the 2nd meeting of the Vietnam-Cuba Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee, on the morning of October 5, President of the National Assembly of the People's Power, President of the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernández and the delegation visited the Vietnam Military History Museum.

Here, the President of the National Assembly , the President of the Council of State of Cuba and the delegation laid flowers at the statue cluster to pay tribute to Cuban military experts. Afterwards, the President of the National Assembly, the President of the Council of State of Cuba and the delegation listened to the introduction and explanation of 6 exhibition topics: The early days of building and defending the country; protecting national independence (from 938 to 1858); fighting against French colonialism to gain national independence (period 1858-1945); resistance against French colonialism (period 1945-1954); resistance against the US (1954-1975); building and defending the country (1975-2024).

The Vietnam Military History Museum is one of six national museums and the leading museum of the Military Museum system, established on July 17, 1956, located at 28A Dien Bien Phu Street, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi City.

In 2019, the Vietnam Military History Museum was newly invested by the Ministry of National Defense in Tay Mo and Dai Mo wards, Nam Tu Liem district, Hanoi city. The museum has a modern design, creating an intuitive historical flow with suitable colors; applying many projection technologies in the exhibition work, giving viewers a completely new experience.

With a scale of 4 floors above ground and 1 basement, the Museum has a construction area of 23,198m2, the total floor area of the main building is 64,640m2, currently displaying and preserving tens of thousands of artifacts. In front of the building is the 45m high Victory Tower, with a 5-pointed star stacked in many layers, symbolizing the year 1945, when the Vietnamese people gained independence.

The Vietnam Military History Museum is a particularly typical cultural work with display components for visitors to interact and better understand the struggle for national independence of the Vietnamese people; thereby contributing to the preservation and promotion of the quintessence of the nation's military cultural heritage, meeting the needs of research, study, sightseeing, and cultural enjoyment of all classes of people at home and abroad; in line with the policy of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense: "The Vietnam Military History Museum is a multi-purpose, comprehensive, especially important, and typical institution of the capital Hanoi and the country."

Despite being half a world apart, the traditional solidarity, special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba has become a model in international relations.

From the first bricks laid by Cuban National Hero José Martí, President Ho Chi Minh, Cuban Leader Fidel Castro and nurtured by many generations of leaders and people of the two countries, that relationship has been forged through the ups and downs of history and remains strong to this day as its inherent nature.

Over the past 65 years, the special, loyal and rare friendship between Vietnam and Cuba has been constantly consolidated and developed, contributing to enhancing peace, stability, cooperation and development in the two regions and in the world.

This official visit to Vietnam by President of the National Assembly of the People's Government and President of the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernandez is of great significance in many aspects, because this is not only an annual high-level delegation exchange activity between the two National Assemblies, but also a political-diplomatic event of great influence, contributing to consolidating and further developing the special traditional solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Cuba.

A special highlight of the visit was the two sides co-chairing the Second Session of the Vietnam-Cuba Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee. The Vietnam-Cuba Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee is a new cooperation mechanism but has quickly proven its effectiveness and important role in the overall special relationship between the two countries.

This is an initiative that demonstrates the strategic vision of the leaders of the two National Assemblies, aiming to create a direct, regular, and organized exchange channel between the legislative bodies of the two countries./.
