Building Tan Trieu Cultural- Tourism Village into a typical community tourism model associated with the direct participation of the people, to promote cultural, historical and natural landscape values in Tan Trieu ward, Dong Nai province.
Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee has just issued Plan No. 112/KH-UBND to build a community tourism model associated with agriculture in the area.
Accordingly, Dong Nai for the first time built Tan Trieu Cultural-Tourism Village with infrastructure for developing cultural tourism and eco-tourism with community participation associated with new rural construction; closely combining the reasonable exploitation of tourism resources; maintaining security, order and environmental sanitation.
The tourist village aims to enhance interaction, experience, understanding of culture, customs, practices, and activities between tourists and local people; create jobs, increase income for people; improve the quality and diversify tourism products and services, build unique tourism products that reflect local identity, are competitive, and contribute to attracting tourists to Dong Nai.
“The plan is implemented on the basis of maximizing the participation of people and the community; managed, organized, exploited and benefited by the community with the professional support of state management agencies and consulting units” - Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee requested, at the same time stating that the construction of the Tan Trieu Cultural-Tourism Village model does not change the current status of land use, does not convert land use purposes, and does not build solid structures.
The project only renovates existing houses into spaces to welcome guests and mainly relies on local production practices and cultural elements to exploit tourism development.
Dong Nai province will pilot the Tan Trieu Cultural-Tourism Village in 2025 and 2026; Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee is the implementing unit; the investor is the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the province.
Accordingly, Dong Nai province will develop tourism product chains associated with destinations to form the Tan Trieu tourism route, including: developing agricultural tourism product destinations associated with family-based experience activities; traditional craft tourism products associated with family-based experience activities; herbal health tourism product destinations associated with family-based experience activities; culinary tourism products associated with family-based experience activities; spiritual tourism associated with religious belief activities in the community; tourism associated with transportation service activities to experience the route; shopping tourism associated with OCOP products and specialties in the community.
According to documents, Tan Trieu grapefruit village, Dong Nai was established in 1869, when a Frenchman brought two grapefruit trees from Brazil to plant on Tan Trieu islet.
Thanks to the alluvial soil, grapefruit trees grow strongly, are propagated by people and spread throughout the region, becoming a specialty and an attractive eco-tourism destination with a grapefruit growing area surrounded by the Dong Nai River.
Tan Trieu grapefruit village has an area of nearly 400 hectares, mainly growing two main grapefruit varieties: orange-leaf grapefruit and green-skin grapefruit.
In 2012, Tan Trieu grapefruit was granted geographical indications for two grapefruit varieties, including orange-leaf grapefruit and guava grapefruit. Tan Trieu grapefruit is currently one of the agricultural products that bring high economic value to farmers in Tan Trieu./.
