National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man meets with Heads of Delegations of countries on the occasion of attending the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament

On the occasion of attending the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Geneva, Switzerland, on July 30 (local time), National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man had short meetings with leaders of parliaments of the following countries: Russia, Japan, Singapore, Azerbaijan and Austria.

At the meetings, the heads of delegations expressed their joy at the important achievements in bilateral cooperation in recent times, including cooperation between legislative bodies, highly appreciated the growing role and position of Vietnam in the region and the world , and expressed their wish to continue maintaining and promoting relations with Vietnam in many fields in the coming time.

The Chairman of the Federation Council of Russia and the Chairman of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan highly appreciated the historic visit of General Secretary To Lam in May 2025 and affirmed that bilateral relations have since made great strides, and all problems have been resolved.

Ms. Matviyenko expressed special impressions about the recent visit to Russia by the wife of General Secretary To Lam with many rich cultural activities that attracted the attention of the Russian public, such as the inauguration of Ho Chi Minh Square and the Russia-Vietnam Cultural Center in Saint Petersburg.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan recalled his good impression of the official visit to Japan by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man in December 2024 and agreed with the proposal of the Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly that the two sides jointly promote the implementation of the agreements reached and, together with the two Governments, continue to deepen bilateral cooperation.

The Speaker of the Singaporean Parliament affirmed his appreciation and support for further deepening the Vietnam-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, continued support for the Vietnamese National Assembly in applying digital technology and artificial intelligence, and continued close cooperation at inter-parliamentary forums, especially the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

The President of the Austrian Senate positively acknowledged Vietnam's proposals to soon complete the ratification of the Vietnam-EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), to urge the European Commission to soon remove the IUU "yellow card" (IUU - illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing) on ​​Vietnam's seafood exports, and to build a cooperation agreement between the two parliaments.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man suggested that heads of parliaments of countries coordinate to promote high-level visits and contacts, actively implement the results of recent visits, and strengthen cooperation and exchange activities between committees, parliamentary agencies, and groups of parliamentarians.

On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man invited the Chairmen of the National Assembly of other countries to visit Vietnam to jointly promote bilateral relations and parliamentary cooperation.
