General Secretary To Lam receives President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernandez

On the afternoon of October 1, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernandez on the occasion of his official visit to Vietnam and co-chaired the second meeting of the Vietnam-Cuba Inter-Parliamentary Committee.

At the reception, General Secretary To Lam welcomed National Assembly Chairman Esteban Lazo Hernandez on his official visit to Vietnam on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2025), the "Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Year", demonstrating the special affection and concern of the Party, State, National Assembly, people of Cuba and National Assembly Chairman Esteban Lazo Hernandez personally for the special friendship, traditional solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

General Secretary To Lam emphasized that Vietnam will always stand side by side with Cuba to continue to strengthen the exemplary brotherly relationship, solidarity, and loyalty between the Parties, States, and people of the two countries.

On this occasion, on behalf of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, General Secretary To Lam respectfully thanked the Party, State and people of Cuba for always accompanying and supporting Vietnam in the cause of national liberation and reconstruction, as demonstrated by the immortal words of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro: "For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to sacrifice even its blood", which is a great source of encouragement for the cause of protecting and building the Fatherland of the Vietnamese people.

General Secretary To Lam emphasized the determination of the Party, State and people of Vietnam in consolidating and further strengthening the special friendship, traditional solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba; emphasizing that the relationship between the two Parties is the political foundation and orientation for the development of bilateral cooperation in all fields; asking the Cuban National Assembly to continue to prioritize support for economic-trade-investment cooperation and investment, creating favorable conditions for cooperation projects in agriculture, renewable energy, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, practically serving the development of both countries.

At the same time, General Secretary To Lam suggested that the two sides coordinate to increase the exchange of theories and practical experiences, especially in the context of Vietnam organizing the 14th National Party Congress and Cuba organizing the 9th National Party Congress in 2026.

National Assembly Chairman Esteban Lazo Hernandez was delighted to meet General Secretary To Lam again on the occasion of leading a high-ranking delegation of the Cuban National Assembly to return to an official visit to Vietnam; sincerely thanked the warm welcome that the Party, State, National Assembly and people of Vietnam had given to the delegation; respectfully conveyed the greetings of the revolutionary leader, General Raul Castro and First Secretary, President Miguel Diaz-Canel to General Secretary To Lam and other high-ranking leaders of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Comrade Esteban Lazo Hernandez expressed his admiration for the great and comprehensive achievements that Vietnam has made in recent times under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam; expressed his firm belief that, with the trust of the people, the Communist Party of Vietnam will continue to lead Vietnam to successfully achieve strategic goals in the new era, building a prosperous, democratic, equitable and civilized Vietnam.

The President of the Cuban National Assembly affirmed that Cuba attaches great importance to consulting and absorbing Vietnam's practical experience in the work of Innovation and building socialism, especially in the process of preparing for the 9th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba in 2026.

The Cuban National Assembly Chairman informed General Secretary To Lam of the good results of the talks and the 2nd meeting of the Vietnam-Cuba Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee chaired by the two National Assembly Chairmen within the framework of this official visit to Vietnam.

President Esteban Lazo Hernandez expressed his gratitude for Vietnam's support and assistance to Cuba during the current difficult period, most recently demonstrated through the widespread fundraising campaign among the Vietnamese people to support Cuba.

He also highly appreciated Vietnam's support and cooperation in improving agricultural production capacity to ensure food security for Cuba, implementing renewable energy projects, producing consumer goods in Cuba, joint ventures in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, as well as contributing to Cuba's economic development through investment projects in the Mariel Special Economic Zone and other Cuban localities.

He affirmed that the Cuban Party, State and National Assembly always pay attention to and create favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to do business and invest in Cuba and believes that they will attract more Vietnamese enterprises to Cuba.

General Secretary To Lam shared some of Vietnam's great experiences and lessons learned during 50 years of defending and building the country, building socialism, nearly 40 years of Innovation and development as well as strategic orientations and policies in the coming time.

The General Secretary welcomed and highly appreciated the proposals of the Cuban National Assembly Chairman in strengthening cooperation between ministries, branches, localities, and socio-political organizations of the two countries, coordinating the direction of education, propaganda, and enhancing understanding among the people and young generations of the two countries about the tradition of special relations between Vietnam and Cuba, especially on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Cuban leader Fidel Castro (August 13, 1926 - August 13, 2026), and the 60th anniversary of the visit of revolutionary leader General Raul Castro to Vietnam and meeting with President Ho Chi Minh (October 1966 - October 2026).

General Secretary To Lam, through the Chairman of the Cuban National Assembly, sent greetings and warm regards to revolutionary leader General Raul Castro; First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel and other leaders of the Cuban Party and State.
