Within the framework of the working program of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife on an official visit to Korea from June 30 to July 3, 2024, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung has just signed a Memorandum of Understanding with SK Group, SK E&S Company on investment cooperation, energy conversion and green growth in Quang Tri province in the presence of the Prime Minister and leaders of ministries and branches of Vietnam and Korea.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung highly appreciated the proactiveness of SK Group in proposing initiatives and cooperation roadmaps and informed SK Group that the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee had proposed the Prime Minister and central ministries and branches to consider and approve the conversion of coal fuel to LNG of the Quang Tri Thermal Power Plant in the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone, and at the same time update the project into the Power Plan VIII and increase the plant's capacity from 1,320 MW to 1,500 MW.
In addition to coordinating the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding, with SK Group's experience in multi-sector and multi-field development, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung also requested SK Group to pay attention to and support Quang Tri province in training local human resources. Especially aiming at human resources to support SK's future initiatives, while affirming the province's strong support in implementing cooperation projects.
Chairman and CEO of SK E&S Choo Hyeongwook highly appreciated the goodwill of cooperation, the initiative and positivity of Quang Tri province in promoting and advancing energy projects in Quang Tri province and affirmed the interest and priority of SK Group in implementing energy solutions. In particular, the immediate priority is to propose converting coal-fired power projects to more environmentally friendly gas-fired power projects.
On this occasion, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung also had a meeting with representatives of the leadership of K Global-Mobility/Korea Company (TataDaewoo) about the proposed business project of truck maintenance, spare parts export, and truck assembly factory in Quang Tri.
Next, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung attended the meeting with the Chairman of the National Assembly of Korea and other important activities assigned by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
