Appearing in the program "Chuyen Toi Cung Sao", famous singer Hoa Mi shared her emotional story about her 50-year singing journey with unforgettable ups and downs. She revealed her fate with musician Lam Phuong and the time she lived far from home with a special job that few people expected.

“There are things in life that you don’t want to choose, but circumstances force you to,” famous singer Hoa Mi shared with MC Minh Ngoc when mentioning the turbulent period during her years of struggling in a foreign land. At first hearing, the statement sounds light, but behind it is a deep feeling and the tormented choices of an experienced artist.

Famous singer Hoa Mi's real name is Truong Thi My, born in 1955. She started her singing career at a very young age and quickly made her mark with her high-pitched, emotional voice. The famous singer is known for many famous love songs by musicians such as Hoang Thi Tho, Lam Phuong, Khanh Bang...

At Tonight's Story with Stars, famous singer Hoa Mi did not mention much about her career successes, she opened up about a very different period in her life, the period when she chose family over the spotlight.

“To be complete, I had to choose between career and family. I chose family as a priority,” she expressed when talking about her decision to give up the stage spotlight at the peak of her career to take care of her family in a foreign land. “When my family reunited, I decided to stop singing to take care of my family wholeheartedly. I only occasionally accept shows on weekends, but I don’t dare to go out too much,” the famous singer added.

Notably, the famous singer Hoa Mi was once the only Vietnamese person working as a baker in France, a job that is usually reserved for men due to its hard work. “Making French bread is not easy, but I have determination and a little talent. I do it to support myself and my children, and I don’t dare to dream of anything more,” she said in a simple voice despite being one of the most famous stars in the music industry.

Talking about her musical journey, famous singer Hoa Mi could not hide her emotions when mentioning the late musician Lam Phuong, who composed the song "Em di roi" for her in 1988. "I have never met Lam Phuong, I only knew his name because I was young at that time, and he was already famous. But he wrote that song just for me. And that song is loved by the audience until now," the famous singer recounted.

During her golden age, Hoa Mi was a familiar face in advertising and calendars in every Vietnamese family. “I was very happy and proud to see my picture everywhere I went, to be recognized and praised by the audience, it was a beautiful memory,” Hoa Mi smiled as she recalled.

After nearly 30 years of hiatus from her singing career, the famous singer Hoa Mi officially returned when she turned 60. Three decades, a third of a person's life, is enough for people to think that they would never have the chance to hear her sweet, soulful voice again. However, Hoa Mi has returned, bringing with her songs full of emotions and nostalgia, leaving a deep impression in the hearts of music lovers.

Currently, the famous singer Hoa Mi has reached the milestone of 50 years of her career. Although she is no longer as active as when she was young, she is still enthusiastic and dedicated every time she appears on stage. “Hoa Mi is no longer as young as her friends. But every time she is on TV and sings for the audience, it is a great joy. I consider it a thank you because the audience still remembers and loves me,” she shared emotionally.

"Nighttime with Stars" airs at 9:50 p.m. every Wednesday on THVL1 channel .
